DIVERGENT GAMES 2026 IS GOING TO BE DIFFERENT.

Over the last several years, we've watched local competition participation change.

It isn't because people don't want to compete.

People are busy.

Kids have games. Families have plans. People work weekends. And giving up an entire Saturday to compete—often with hours of waiting between events—isn't always easy.

So we asked a different question:

What if the competition fit into your life instead of taking over your entire day?

That's one of the ideas driving the new Divergent Games.

Your team will arrive for a scheduled start time, move continuously through the competition, and finish the entire event in just under two hours.

No sitting around for half the day.

No six-hour gap between your first and last workout.

Come in.

Compete.

Find out what you're capable of.

Then go enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

Different by design.

Lately, I’ve been asked a couple of questions:

How do you say Aberrant? (like apparent but with a B)
And more importantly…

What does Aberrant mean?
I wasn’t around when the name was created. But when I first walked into this gym, I looked it up.

Aberrant (adjective) — departing from what is normal, usual, or expected; diverging from the standard.

Different.
Unconventional.
Willing to do what others won’t.

Over time, I realized that definition describes exactly what this community has become.

We don’t want to simply go through the motions.

We train with purpose.
We compete with purpose.
We challenge ourselves.
We keep learning.
And we work every day to become better at everything we do.

Everything with intention.

And that idea is at the heart of something we’ve been building for the last seven years.

THE DIVERGENT GAMES

A competition born from an **Aberrant** community. (CrossFitters!!)

To diverge is to choose a different path—to step away from what is expected and find out what you’re capable of.

In 2026, we’re taking the Divergent Games in a new direction.

New look.
New format.
New challenges.

But the same purpose.

Be different.
Be intentional.
DIVERGE.

LABOR DAY HERO WOD — TUDER

This Labor Day, we honor Officer Sean Tuder of the Mobile Police Department, who was killed in the line of duty on January 20, 2019.

Sean was scheduled to be off that day when he received information regarding the location of a wanted suspect his unit had been searching for. He acted on that information and went to the location while backup was being dispatched. During the encounter, Sean was shot and killed.

He was just 31 years old.

Sean was also a member of the Alabama National Guard and an active member of the CrossFit community. The workout **TUDER** was created by people who knew him, including his best friend and fellow officer. The sets of three represent his police call sign, “Gang 3,” and the clean & jerks were included in recognition of Grace, the last CrossFit workout Sean completed.

This workout is meant to be done with a partner — sharing the work, pushing each other, and finishing together.

**TUDER — With a Partner**

1-mile run together
31 push-ups each

**20 rounds, alternating complete rounds:**
3 Deadlifts — 135/95
3 Clean & Jerks — 135/95
3 Front Squats — 135/95

31 push-ups each
1-mile run together

On **Monday, September 7**, we’ll come together to remember a man who dedicated his life to serving others.

Know the name.
Know the story.
Remember the sacrifice.

Community is stronger than cancer.

$1,500. THAT’S OUR TARGET.

Not because we need new equipment.

Not because we’re trying to pay for a competition.

We’re raising it for Gilda’s Club Quad Cities.

Their programs provide no-cost support to people whose lives have been impacted by cancer—including patients, survivors, caregivers, families, and friends.

Some of those people are part of our own community.

You don’t have to make a huge donation to make a difference.

$5 helps.
$10 helps.
$25 helps.
Sharing this post helps.

A lot of people doing a little can accomplish something big.

That’s something we understand pretty well at Aberrant.

Help the Aberrant CrossFit River Raiders reach our $1,500 goal.

Community is stronger than cancer.

SPEED IS A SKILL — AND IT CAN BE TRAINED.

Young athletes are often told to "run faster."

But very few are actually taught how.

Acceleration requires an athlete to produce force into the ground, maintain good body position and coordinate their arms and legs efficiently.

That's why our athletes don't just run laps.

We work on:
• Starting positions
• First-step quickness
• Acceleration mechanics
• Sprint posture
• Arm action
• Force production
• Short, high-quality sprint efforts

Speed development isn't about exhausting athletes.
It's about teaching them to move faster with better mechanics.

Whether an athlete is chasing down a soccer ball, stealing second base, driving to the basket or getting off the line in football, acceleration matters.

Don't just tell young athletes to be faster. Teach them how.

That's part of the Aberrant Athletic Development Model.
