Congratulations Sugar Gliders who played during this summer! We had our last game this morning and we strive till the end! We are so proud of each of you! Thank you to all devoted parents who brought their amazing children! Coach Amanda, thank you for your dedication! Great praises to the Miracle League of El Paso for the chance they gave to all of our children to have a safe atmosphere to play kickball in.

Last night I attended a gathering of friends family and community members who came together to honor the life of Francoise Feliberti, who passed away in June.
Usually I am not one to shy away from relaying a story or two but emotion overwhelmed me and I could not get up on that stage and tell everyone what a driving force she had been in my life.
I met her and her husband Manny in early 2010.
Miracle league had done
an exit survey of our players and they wanted to play soccer. Many folks in the community told me to seek Paso Del Norte Soccer Association out, which I did. I went to her office on Yarbrough and waited it seemed like forever to speak to her. When I was able to, she got up from her chair the minute she heard who I was and what I wanted to speak to her about.

She immediately told me she wanted me to meet her again the next day and the next day and before I knew it I was having dinner with her and Manny and my husband Raul.

She contacted her group in South Texas and we held a TopSoccer event. As we worked together, Manny came up with ways to retrofit mobility devices many of our players use to be able to make those goals and move the ball across the field. When we held our first gathering, we had 62 players. Manny and his coaches were overwhelmed with the turnout. We played back then once a week and Francoise and Manny were always there. That meant quite a lot to us.

We would often get a call to meet for lunch or dinner out of the blue.

They asked us to help convince the city council to get the Eastside sports complex to be included in the capital bond election at the time.

Francoise taught me never to be intimidated by my vision, to embrace it, and move forward.
When they moved out of town, I missed being able to call her and ask her opinion, although I knew she would pick up the phone and talk to me whenever.

Her family was everything. We bonded as I too was a graduate of Eastwood.

Last night, I wanted to thank her family for sharing her with the El Paso community and say how much an impact she had on my life. She truly was an inspiration I treasure.
