The Gathering of the Waters Powwow will return to Eau Claire tomorrow, Sept. 19, bringing Indigenous arts and culture, community leaders and supporting local orgs together at The Sonnentag.

The free-to-attend event, slated for 11am-6pm, will include new dance exhibitions, an expanded "Health Fair" initiative and more, organizers say.

According to Sami Taylor, returning Powwow organizer and Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe tribal member, the move back to Eau Claire is best represented as a “homecoming.”

After all, it was the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire American Indian Studies Program which served as initial host and sponsor for the Eau Claire Powwow (the historic offerings once filled the now demolished Zorn Arena on campus).

Head on over to UWEC's Sonnentag Center for pick-up soccer and basketball! The new Open Recreation membership will provide opportunities for community members to get together, stay active, and enjoy pickup games.

This package grants members access to the Fieldhouse and the Event Center during designated open rec hours. Open Recreation members will not have access to the Fitness Center. Want access all-access to the Fitness Center, Group Fitness Classes, and more? Purchase a Community Membership for just $10 more/month!

ONE MONTH away! 🪶 We are so excited to host the third annual Gathering of the Waters Powwow at The Sonnentag.

Floor facelift loading… ⏳👀

Our Event Center is currently closed, but for good reason: resurfacing of the stadium flooring for all of your favorite events at The Sonnentag! Don’t worry, we’ll be back in action on 08/21. Just in time for Open Rec hours this fall semester and the Blugold Volleyball season. 😉
