U.S. National Kubb Championship

A huge thank you to the Embassy of Sweden in USA for hosting Fireside Productions, LLC's Kings of Kubb documentary last Thursday in Washington DC. Before the film, the Embassy hosted an open kubb event outside on their lawn along the Potomac River. Over 50 people showed up and played and dozens of more people walked and biked by during the event. Then, Kings of Kubb was shown inside the Embassy to a sold-out audience. After the film, there was 15-20 minutes of Q&A with BJ and Steve from Fireside Productions and Eric from the U.S. Championship, followed by photos and more discussions.

Thanks again for hosting the film and the warm hospitality. We appreciated it all so much. We had an absolutely amazing time...a night we will never forget.

Last week we participated in the UW-Eau Claire Academic Opening Day, which was for new students. Our goal was to get as many students as possible to throw at least one baton over the two hours. We had over 200 students stop and throw at least one baton and had dozens decide to play. We had lines with students waiting to play.

We met students from every corner of Wisconsin and Minnesota, many other states, and as far away as China and Mongolia. We even got Blu to play. Thanks for the invite UWEC. Welcome to Eau Claire everyone!!

2027 Official Schedule:
All teams are welcome. As we announced previously, the 2027 U.S. Championship is open to international teams. We hope you consider coming and celebrating our 20th U.S. Championship / Family Reunion with us. If you are an association, club, team, or player outside the U.S., we’d love for you to share this with others.

All skill levels are welcome.

We will be hosting a 1 v. 1 tournament on Friday.

We have already started working with our friends at Visit Eau Claire, WI to put together a list of activities and events outside of kubb if you will be here a day or more early and/or stay in Eau Claire after.

We will be expanding the maximum number of teams.

Sunday is group play with eight groups of four teams, followed by bracket play.

We have formed a Hospitality Committee to help connect international teams with U.S. teams and families to help with tournament needs like tents, chairs, coolers, etc.

This fall, we will announce when registration will open.

What an amazing weekend. So honored to receive this commemorative jubilee coin from the Embassy of Sweden in USA.

Friday and Saturday, we had the opportunity to tell our story of kubb in Eau Claire and in the U.S. to Martin Wærn, who is doing a 12-month roadtrip podcast discovering Swedish footprints in the U.S. He interviewed our director Eric Anderson.

The Swedish Embassy is partnering with Martin on his journey. Before departing Washington DC, Swedish Ambassador Ahlin gave Martin a collection of Jubilee Challenge Coins, that highlight the long collaboration between the two countries, as Sweden was one of the first countries to recognize the U.S., in 1783. These coins were to be given for significant achievements and/or contributions to the Swedish/American relationship.

Thank you very much Ambassador Ahlin, we are super honored, and thank you Martin for making your way to Eau Claire and wanting to hear about kubb.

We are not done yet. We are so excited for our 20th Championship in 2027, and beyond.

We highly recommend following Martin’s journey throughout the U.S. The podcasts and short interviews are a great and interesting look at both our history and many current communities in our country, and the photos and videos he is taking of our beautiful country are amazing.
