Columbia wrestlers Emelia Merhige and Zoe Perrotti are out in Indiana at the USA Wrestling National Duals representing team New York. Both picked up some good wins for NY in freestyle and will wrestle Greco tomorrow!

This weekend featured the Jeff Blatnick Freestyle and Greco State Championships, where Columbia sent a contingent to participate. Emelia Merhige (16u freestyle and Greco), Khloe Stevens (14U freestyle), and Quinn Sullivan (14U freestyle) secured Silver medals, qualifying to represent the New York National team at their respective age levels. Adam Groves (16U freestyle) achieved 5th place, Zoe Perrotti (JR freestyle) 6th place, and Carmen Perrotti demonstrated impressive wrestling skills in both Freestyle and Greco.

NYWN presents the 2026 Girls Grade Level Teams!

Historically speaking in wrestling terms upperclassmen dominate most of the state placements, so putting together grade level teams can help see talent that may start “breaking through” in the freshman and sophomore age level groups.

New York has some outstanding girls underclassmen coming through, and they certainly break away from these historical norms. The sophomores rolling through right now are no joke!
