Triangle Aikido of Durham, NC We offer Aikido training for adults in a safe and supportive environment. Classes are Monday through Thursday evenings and Saturdays.

A wonderful exercise for body and mind! Note: We also offer Jodo and Iaido. We are not offering Family Class right now. Welcome to Triangle Aikido in Durham, North Carolina! Aikido (the way of spirit harmony) develops the power of the mind and body working in concert, emphasizing the use of blending and awareness rather than force and resistance. Aikido techniques rely on a calm mind, relaxed body and accurate positioning rather than strength and size. As well as being an effective self defense, Aikido is a healthful exercise, a moving meditation, and an enjoyable work-out for students of all ages. At Triangle Aikido, experienced instructors provide training in a safe and supportive atmosphere, offering a constructive way for adults and teens to use their energy more peacefully and effectively.

We will be having our regular schedule of Aikido classes this weekend - Saturday, September 5 at 9:30 AM and 12:30 PM and Monday, September 7 at 6:00 PM.

We will not have a Martial Movement class this Sunday, September 6.

The story of a dojo: Gaining a new student (welcome, Adrienne!), bidding farewell to another (good luck in Portland, Ben!), and reuniting with a student from long ago for one class only (thanks for visiting, Erik!). Managing a dojo is always challenging as members come and members go. All we can do is our best to create a welcoming space and sense of community, where everyone knows they always matter. One measure of our success is the number of former students who have stayed connected, who call and email, and who drop by unannounced when they’re in the area, knowing they’ll be welcomed, honored, and thrown around just like old times. Feels like we're doing something right.
