Leadership isn't something we talk about. It's something students practice.

We don't teach martial arts to make fighters. We teach it to build character.

Most schools teach kicks and punches and hope that somewhere along the way, discipline just kind of rubs off. That's leaving the most important part to chance.

At Master Chang's, character education is the curriculum. We teach respect the same way we teach a roundhouse kick. We teach focus the same way we teach a form. Explicitly. Every single class.

Our Master Instructors teach and connect with all their students, but they don't do it alone.

Our Leadership Team develops connections with the students while helping teach and guide each one in their skills. Our leadership team helps bridge the gaps between parents, kids, and the Master helping teach their children. It's a team effort and we want to recognize the team who helps make it all happen!!

We partner with our students and their families to help every child succeed, both on and off the mat. We pride ourselves in having a connection with each student in every class. This week's Black Belt Life Skill is Cooperation. Overall, cooperation is working together to reach a goal. In the Dojang, cooperation can look like being a good partner during class so both of you get better. At home, cooperation can look like doing your part and helping with chores. At school, cooperation can look like working with your partners during projects to produce your best work.
