Semo Fair 2026, have a blessed weekend!

Thursday we got to celebrate an early birthday, for a special young lady. Took a group thrifting at the local stores. Got to go visit our good friends at Memory Lane, singing karaoke and hanging out together. And, also had a vehicle safety and emergency drill, practicing how we would respond during a traffic accident. It was busy day.

This week we have had cooking classes for those who’s goal is learning how to make themselves a meal. We went and visited our friends at Cape art, and worked on different projects. We have volunteered at Meals on Wheels delivering meals to the elderly. Worked on art projects here at the dayhab, and watched movies and socialized with our friends. We are patiently waiting for this summer to end so we can get back to our outdoor activities.

That’s a wrap, have a blessed weekend!

• Thursday we started off the day with a visit to the Puxico Nursing & Rehab, where we was able to sing karaoke and just hang out with our friends. Then, we went to the movies and enjoyed a soda and popcorn, while watching a movie with our peers.

• Fun Friday started off with a flood drill, one of our many drills we perform on a monthly basis. Then the rest of the morning consisted of ice cream club, soda club, and bowling. We enjoy just getting to hang out and having fun on our Friday’s, for lunch we served home aid French bread pizza. We hope you have a great weekend, and will see you all on Monday.

Back from the long holiday weekend.

• Tuesday, we started off the day with a group skills over the importance of personal hygiene, and taking care of ourselves. Then we took a trip up to Cape to see our friends at the Peer Impact Center, and the Gallery of Inspiration. We love getting together with Tina & Mike, and working on art projects.

• Wednesday, we started the day with individualized small group skills over goals and strategies. Which allows us to work on a one-on-one basis with each individual to give them a personalized care.

Tuesday - Wednesday we volunteered at Meals on Wheels, delivered meals to the homes of the elderly.

That’s a wrap, have an awesome Labor Day Weekend! See you all Tuesday.

• Thursday was a special day for us at Family Matters Dayhab-Dexter, as we took a trip to the new Roberts Adventure Playground located in Mclane Park at Poplar Bluff. As the new playground is named after, and in memory of, our staff Anna’s late brother. We also had skills about peer pressure and bullying.

• Fun Friday consisted of soda club, ice cream club, and bowling. For lunch we had nachos and healthy fruit smoothies. We pray everyone enjoys this 3 day weekend with their families, and can’t wait to see you all Tuesday.

🎉💙 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BILLY! 💙🎉

Today we get to celebrate someone who is truly the heart and soul of Dexter Family Matters Dayhab.

Billy is the warmth in our daily operation and, in so many ways, the glue that holds us together. He is driven, dependable, compassionate, and the kind of person who doesn’t simply show up to work. He shows up with his whole heart.

Billy genuinely loves what he does, and even more importantly, he loves the people he serves. You can see it in his patience, his dedication, his laughter, and the relationships he has built with the individuals who count on him every day. To Billy, they aren’t just part of his job. They matter to him.

And at the center of the man Billy is, there is his love for Jesus. His faith, his heart for others, and his desire to serve and shine through in the way he lives and works each day. 🙏🏼

Every team needs people who keep things moving, but the really special ones are the people who make a place feel like family.

Billy, we are incredibly grateful for everything you bring to Family Matters. We hope today you feel just how loved, valued, and appreciated you truly are.

We made it over the hump!

• We started off the week with the Monday morning check-in, where we get the opportunity to tell what all we’ve done over the weekend. Then we had a proper handwashing skill, to help fight back against germs and sickness. We finished up the day with our monthly mock fire drill.

• Tuesday we worked on our math skills, practicing addition and subtraction. Then, we took a trip up to Cape to the Peer Impact Center and the Gallery of Inspiration, where we were able to work on art projects.

• Wednesday we volunteered at the Semo Food Bank, giving back to the community by boxing up food to be distributed to the needy. We also had a visit by some of our friends from our New Madrid Dayhab.

• Monday - Wednesday we volunteered at Meals on Wheels, delivering food to the homes of the elderly.

Family Matters will be closed Monday September 7th for Labor day. We hope all of our friends get to enjoy time off
