A new chapter is unfolding at Brewster-Wheeler.

Once slated for demolition, the historic recreation center is being restored as the heart of a growing Detroit community KRONK and Grind Time Wrestling Academy are already bringing new energy to the building, while work continues on the basketball gym.

Surrounding the recreation center, 211 new affordable apartments are beginning to rise—including 53 homes scheduled to open in January 2027.
