🐅 TIGERS FALL 2-1 IN SKUBAL’S RETURN TO COMERICA PARK

Tarik Skubal’s first game back at Comerica Park since being traded to Los Angeles ends with the Dodgers handing the Tigers a tough 2-1 loss.

Detroit managed just 5 hits and struck out 12 times, with the offense going 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. The Tigers’ only run came in the fifth when Clark delivered an RBI triple.

Detroit’s pitching staff kept them in it all night. Anderson tossed 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out five, but the Dodgers eventually broke through with runs in the sixth and eighth.

The Tigers fall to 62-72 with the loss, while the Dodgers improve to 81-54.

A frustrating night offensively as Detroit comes up just short in Skubal’s return to Comerica.

There’s a little extra emotion surrounding tonight’s game in Detroit.

For the first time since being traded to the Dodgers, Tarik Skubal returns to Comerica Park — this time wearing the opposing uniform. The former Tigers ace will take the mound against the organization and fanbase he spent years pitching for.

Skubal enters the night 8-7 with a 2.91 ERA and 146 strikeouts, and now gets the unusual experience of pitching from the visitors’ side in a ballpark he once called home.

Detroit will counter with Drew Anderson, who is 4-5 with a 4.09 ERA and 91 strikeouts, as the Tigers open the series against a loaded Dodgers team that comes to town at 80-54.
