Setbacks Don’t Define Performance. 🚴♂️
Continuing to share the athlete progress from the past few months, this one is about responding to adversity.
A huge congratulations to Sean, who delivered an outstanding return to racing after an unexpected setback just two weeks before the Marymoor Grand Prix.
A non-cycling related ankle injury meant we had to quickly adapt the plan. Rather than forcing training, the priority became allowing the ankle to recover while maintaining fitness through upper-body strength work, seated core training, and non-weight-bearing lower-body exercises. Once the swelling settled, range of motion returned, and Sean received medical clearance, we progressively reintroduced cycling training.
The result?
🚴 Marymoor Grand Prix
⏱️ 10.966s Flying 200m - 2nd fastest time of his career
🥉 3rd Place - Elite Men Sprint Competition
Just one week later at Sprintacular in Edmonton, Sean backed it up again.
⚡ New Flying 200m Personal Best - 10.67s
This performance wasn’t about rushing back. It was about making the right decisions at the right time, trusting the process, and being ready to perform when the opportunity arrived.
Congratulations, Sean. Looking forward to building on this momentum through the remainder of the season. 👏

3,200m of Climbing. One Outstanding Ride. 🚴♂️⛰️
A huge congratulations to Dominic, who delivered an outstanding performance at the Barbados Road National Championships.
🥉 3rd Place - Elite Men's Road Race
This wasn't just any road race. Covering a challenging course with approximately 3,200 m of climbing, the race demanded patience, resilience, and the ability to perform after hours of hard racing.
Dominic positioned himself perfectly, making the decisive lead breakaway and racing to a well-earned silver medal.
What makes this result particularly rewarding is the preparation behind it.
Balancing work commitments alongside elite-level training meant every session needed a purpose. Rather than simply increasing training volume, we carefully selected sessions that targeted the physiological demands of the event while managing overall fatigue throughout the training block.
That's often where performance is won, not by doing more, but by doing the right work at the right time.
Congratulations again, Dominic. Looking forward to building on this momentum throughout the season. 👏

One of the biggest challenges in track sprint racing is knowing what to focus on.
There is endless information to digest and execute on during racing, but what often makes the biggest difference is understanding the key actions that can improve performance immediately.
Following last year's Bromont Track Sprint Camp, one rider shared:
"Updated my strategies for the Flying 200m, Match Sprint, and Keirin racing. Simple actionable explanations. Excellent video review and coach feedback."
Throughout the camp, we focus on helping riders better understand sprint racing through practical coaching, tactical discussions, race scenarios, video review, and individual feedback.
The goal isn't to overwhelm riders with information.
It's to provide clear, actionable strategies that can be applied in training and competition.

Many riders focus almost exclusively on cycling physical development in their training.
But race performance isn't always determined by who has the biggest and most powerful engine.
Often, it's determined by who understands how to use the track, position themselves effectively, and apply their racing strengths to match the right tactical strategy at the correct moment.
Following last year's Bromont Track Sprint Camp, one rider shared:
"I learned how to use the track to go faster without wasting energy. I also learned how to use my strengths to overtake stronger or faster cyclists - learned some strategies that I'll be able to apply in my next races."
This is exactly why we spend so much time discussing race scenarios, tactical strategies, track positioning, and race ex*****on throughout the camp.
The goal is to better understand how to race smarter and more effectively.

One of the most valuable learning tools available to track cyclists is video analysis.
In the moment, races happen fast. Decisions are made in seconds, positions change quickly, and opportunities can be won or lost before riders fully process what happened.
Video review allows riders to slow the race down, identify key moments, and better understand the decisions they made and identify other opportunities throughout the race.
Following last year’s Bromont Track Sprint Camp, one rider shared:
“Video review of match sprint was helpful. Overall great experience. Would recommend.”
Throughout the camp, we use race footage, coaching discussions, and tactical review sessions to help riders develop a deeper understanding of sprint racing and how to apply their strengths more effectively on race day.
The goal isn’t simply to ride faster. It’s to better understand how to execute when it matters most.

Athletes Xcel Track Sprint Training Camp - Bromont, QC
After the success of our previous camp, I am excited to confirm that we’ll be running the next 3-Day Track Sprint Training Camp at the Centre National de Cyclisme de Bromont (CNCB).
This is not just about riding fast, it’s about developing the skills, tactical understanding, and decision-making required to perform on race day.
🚴♂️ Why This Camp Matters
For many riders, performance isn’t limited by fitness, it’s limited by race understanding and ex*****on.
Common challenges include:
• Not racing to your strengths
• Struggling to read and respond in race situations
• Limited opportunity to practice tactical skills
• Very few chances to experiment in a structured environment
Over three days, we’ll address exactly that.
🗓️ Training Focus
Each day builds on the previous, so you don’t just learn skills, you learn how to apply them in racing.
Friday (Sept 4)
Flying efforts + partner skills (chasing, rushing, gap management)
Saturday (Sept 5)
AM: Gate starts
PM: Match sprint scenarios + race simulations
Sunday (Sept 6)
Keirin scenarios + race simulations + bonus bunch race
💬 What Riders Took Away
✔️ More confidence going into races
✔️ Clearer understanding of sprint tactics
✔️ Practical actions they could apply immediately
They stopped guessing and started understanding how to execute.
