A loved, fed and healthy baby or toddler doesn’t need to be rescued from every tear or hard emotion. Not quelling tears immediately or not returning back to their old preferred way of doing something does not make you unresponsive.
You are allowed to make changes in sleep or any arena of parenting for your well being, even if it’s not their preference, and you can be right there to support your child through the change.
If you’re looking for support through sleep changes, I’d be happy to help! Send me a message and we’ll set up a free chat. 💛
Wild Moon Sleep Coaching
Helping tired parents sleep again ✨
Prioritizing infant development AND your mental health. Co-sleeping friendly 🌝
Not everything needs to be child led. 🫣 It’s great for a lot of things, but not always for sleep. If you feel like helping your baby or child sleep independently would make you a better parent, you are so allowed to make a change. And change can be made responsively and respectfully. 💛
If you’re ready for a sleep change and would like support through this transition, DM me and we can set up a free discovery call to chat about your needs. 🌸
If you’ve been putting baby down at 6:30 or 7 and having rough nights or early mornings, a little later of a bedtime will likely be your best friend! Here’s why:👇
Research shows that the average amount of night sleep for a baby is 10 hours. 😳 crazy, right?
So all these 7-7 or 12 hour nights schedules are only going to work for a small set of babies with super high sleep needs. 💤
If you feel like there’s no way you can go later because of baby’s nap schedule, try extending all wake windows gradually and that should help move things later.
Don’t be afraid of a later of a bedtime. It’s likely a big piece of the puzzle you need to get sleep feeling good again. 🙌
And if you need more sleep help, send me a DM and follow Rachel | Baby & Toddler Sleep Coach
We’ve all heard “sleep begets sleep,” right? Well, actually, it’s not how sleep science works at all! If we’re giving tons of sleep to the day, baby won’t have as much sleep left for night. Cue false starts, split nights, early rises because they’ve run out of sleep, and a nightmare trying to settle at bedtime.
If you’re in the “oopsies I think I’m giving my baby too much sleep” boat, here’s what you can try.
1. Trust that their body has taken the amount of sleep they need when they wake from their nap, even if it was short. Offer another nap opportunity later on.
2. If baby seems tired and it’s not their nap time or you’d like to try extending their time awake, go outside, and engage their senses through water play or another sensory activity.
3. Remember if you have a day snoozer and your nights are awful, and you’re working on more awake time, a cranky baby is not a harmed baby. Keeping them awake a little past the sleep time they’re used to is ok. 💛
Reach out if you’re ready for some help to get your family sleeping again!
It is 100% okay if you don’t want to work toward independent sleep. You don’t have to.
But there’s a difference between not wanting to make a sleep change and believing your baby isn’t capable of learning something new.
Temperament is a great tool for understanding how your baby may experience a change - and how we can best support them through it.
But if you’ve been led to believe that your baby is “too intense,” “too sensitive,” or “too strong-willed” to adjust, it can be really easy to start thinking that their temperament determines what they’re capable of - in sleep and beyond.
Have faith in your baby’s ability to adapt. They can, with the right support and the right sleep plan. 🫶

WOWEE I had an amazing time at the North Denver Birth Expo today! This area is SO lucky to have such fantastic providers. Thank you to every single person who stopped by my table to chat, I loved connecting with you.💛
If I learned one thing today it’s that 99% of the folks I chatted with bed share or have bed shared at some point, even those that were adamantly against it. I’m really honored to support bed sharing families in whatever capacity feels right- whether that’s getting longer stretches while sleeping together and safer bed sharing education, or transitioning to an independent sleep space in a mindful way. 👶
I knew this support was so needed before today, but having person after person share their bed sharing stories with me for 5 hours really brought it home. 🙌
I’m here for you in whatever season you find yourself in- I’d be honored to help you get better rest in a way that feels good for your family!

Are we the same kind of chic? 🤗
Baby sleep support • responsive sleep coaching • newborn + toddler sleep • parent support • motherhood
That “sleep regression” that won’t end? There’s usually more to the story. 👀
The good news? You can move out of it, with some loving boundaries and staying present and responsive through your baby’s big feelings. Your baby’s preferences are not unchangeable, I promise, even if it feels that way sometimes.
Dm me SLEEP if you’re ready to make a change. I’d love to support you through it! 🌝
