Day 20 of 30 | What Is Fitness?
Fitness and health are connected.
CrossFit describes sickness, wellness, and fitness as points on the same continuum.
The goal is not just to avoid sickness.
The goal is to build a buffer.
More strength.
Better conditioning.
Better body composition.
Better movement.
Better resilience.
Fitness should support your health.

Day 19 of 30 | What Is Fitness?
Not all “cardio” has to be long and slow.
CrossFit uses intervals to develop conditioning while also protecting strength, speed, and power.
Work.
Rest.
Repeat.
Recover.
Adapt.
That’s why a short workout can be brutally effective.
Intensity, when scaled properly, is powerful.

Day 18 of 30 | What Is Fitness?
CrossFit’s third fitness standard looks at energy systems.
Your body uses different “engines” depending on the task:
Short and powerful.
Moderate and hard.
Longer and sustainable.
A complete fitness program trains all three.
That is why we sprint, lift, row, bike, run, and breathe hard in different ways.

Day 17 of 30 | What Is Fitness?
Routine is comfortable.
But routine can also limit adaptation.
CrossFit uses constantly varied training because life does not ask you to move in one predictable way.
Some days are heavy.
Some days are fast.
Some days are technical.
Some days are long.
Some days humble everyone.
That is part of the point.

Day 16 of 30 | What Is Fitness?
CrossFit’s second fitness standard is the “hopper.” Imagine a hopper filled with every physical task possible.
Run.
Lift.
Carry.
Jump.
Climb.
Throw.
Balance.
Sprint.
Work long.
Work short.
If one task is pulled out at random, how ready are you?
That is the heart of broad fitness.

Day 15 of 30 | What Is Fitness?
Training and practice are not the same thing.
Training creates measurable changes in the body.
Practice creates changes in the nervous system.
That means some things improve by working harder.
Other things improve by slowing down, drilling, listening, and repeating.
Both matter.
That is why we train AND practice at CrossFit Cuspis.

Day 14 of 30 | What Is Fitness?
Skill 10: Accuracy.
Accuracy is your ability to control movement in the right direction and at the right intensity.
A wall ball target.
A foot placement.
A bar path.
A jump rope rhythm.
A clean landing position.
Accuracy is why coaching matters.
Small changes make big differences.

Day 13 of 30 | What Is Fitness?
Skill 9: Balance.
Balance is control.
On one foot.
Under load.
Upside down.
While tired.
During a step-up.
At the bottom of a squat.
Balance is trainable.
And for many people, it becomes one of the most important parts of long-term fitness.

Day 12 of 30 | What Is Fitness?
Skill 8: Agility.
Agility is your ability to move quickly and change direction.
It helps athletes.
It helps parents.
It helps hikers, skiers, runners, and anyone who has ever tripped on a curb and needed to catch themselves.
Fitness is not just controlled gym movement.
It is preparation for real life.
