Hannah Berry (née Wells) headlines tomorrow’s 70.3 Boise and is one of the athletes helping push sports nutrition forward at the highest level of triathlon.
As athletes fuel more to go faster, the conversation around carbs has changed dramatically over the last few years. What used to sound excessive is now becoming the norm for many of the best athletes in the world.
So I’m curious…
How many grams of carbs per hour are you taking in during a 70.3?
And where do you think the ceiling is before more carbs stop translating to better performance?

Sam Long had a historic effort at Gulf Coast 70.3. This year in Boise 70.3 we have a stacked field, warm day, downhill course, and maybe a little tailwind. Will we see another record?

A few weeks ago I couldn’t lift a coffee mug…
There was a real moment where I didn’t even know if I’d make it here. A shoulder injury had me questioning my own training, camera, gimbal, all of it felt out of reach.
But somehow, we got here. Weekends like this remind me it’s never just about the race or work.
It’s about the people. New friendships, familiar faces, and conversations that only happen when you’re all chasing something hard.
I’m incredibly grateful to the athletes who trust me, people who made this trip possible opening up their homes, lending me an e-bike, and making it easy for me to just show up and do what I love.
And that’s the thing… I really do love this s**t sometimes even more than my training and racing.
Being out here, capturing moments, telling these stories it fills me up in the same way racing does.
Texas, you were a good one.
