At the still point of a turning world.”
T.S. Eliot
Performances like we just did, give clarity to what you are standing in.
This one certainly did for me.
It became both a remembrance of where we have been and a note to where we are going. My final words each night preceding the show were foretelling:
What to do in a world that is getting faster? Get deeper.
Establish ties.
Live by the heart.
Tell more stories.
This is what we will do.
Next year is bringing a new cycle of how I offer my work.
I can’t wait to get started.
In the meantime thank you for the year and all the connections and creations at Moovment House.
I am so grateful for you all!
It is will be a new year, new project and new cycle of evolving for our 2026/2027. Follower along as we begin again! Registration opening soon for all children, adults and professionals. 📷🙏

We celebrate what has been a wondrous 2025/2026 year at Moovment House!! We closed for the summer with four sold out dance theatre performances of our Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by TS Eliot.
The magic that ensued was exponential. We not only created an original tale, the students had to learn to move and behave like a cat, deliver spoken word and even tap dance. We transformed our studio at the 6th Avenue UCC into a performance space. The freedom to install a stage setting that transports is a wonder of a feat. Oh my goodness did we!
This year we flipped the house in our studio theatre bringing the kind of problem solving, community and awe that enlivened the spirit of the show for all. This story brought alumni dancers, teachers, artists, mothers and fathers lending their hands to make this extraordinary process. We thank you all!!!

Growltiger was a Bravo Cat, who travelled on a barge:
In fact he was the roughest cat that ever roamed at large.
From Gravesend up to Oxford he pursued his evil aims,
Rejoicing in his title of ‘The Terror of the Thames’.

“Gus is the Cat at the Theatre Door.
His name, as I ought to have told you before,
Is really Asparagus. That’s such a fuss
To pronounce, that we usually call him just Gus.
His coat’s very shabby, he’s thin as a rake,
And he suffers from palsy that makes his paw shake.
Yet he was, in his youth, quite the smartest of Cats -
But no longer a terror to mice and to rats.
For he isn’t the Cat that he was in his prime;
Though his name was quite famous, he says, in its time.”

I have a Gumbie Cat in mind
Her name is Jennyanydots
Her coat is of the tabby kind
With tiger stripes and leopard spots
All day she sits beneath the stairs
Or on the steps or on the mat
She sits and sits and sits and sits
And that’s what makes a Gumbie Cat
That’s what makes a Gumbie Cat

Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer had a very unusual gift of the
gab.
They were highly efficient cat-burglars as well, and
remarkably smart at smash-and-grab.
They made their home in Victoria Grove. They had no regular
occupation.
They were plausible fellows, and liked to engage a friendly
policeman in conversation.
