The 2025–2026 Fencing season has been about revision and refining.
I committed 12 months to revising every part of my game from technique to training from the quality of equipment I use to reworking how my nervous system responds during about.
I learned to fence with greater presence strategy and skill.
Two weeks before nationals, a cracked rib and an injured back foot changed everything. With my body feeling limitations and pain the mindset and strategy had to shift. Annie stood by me. Friends traveled to cheer me on. My coaches helped me make adjustments. My trainer did as well.
The result was an undefeated pool record and winning into the semifinal finals to capture a bronze medal and a new USA Fencing B rating! 🥉
Some of the lessons that I'm processing have to do with performance rising up when the pressure is on. However, more importantly, I learned to elevate... to level up to the degree my preparation proffered me... and the quality of how we improved my inner-state.
This medal is incredible no doubt. However, the real victory is knowing that I'm the kind of athlete who earned it.
