Just a few thoughts on some of the isolation I feel as someone who is often labeled as “intimidating.”

This is just a personal explanation of my decision to stop teaching group fitness classes and move exclusively to 1:1 personal training.
This is not meant as an attack on group fitness classes as a whole, this is just specific to my career and journey as a trainer. Some people thrive in a group fitness setting, for me I feel a one on one setting is where I’m at my best and in my element.
I fell for the “training your obliques will make your waist wide and bulky” myth for a long time, and it’s simply not true. If anything, since incorporating more oblique training into my program my pelvis has gotten narrower. STOP THE OBLIQUE HATE.
Little breakdown of this core exercise I’ve been trying from . Not overly concerned with isolating specific muscle groups on this one, I want my abs, serratus, pecs, triceps, all lighting up. If you do it right you should feel very little hip flexors at all as although it’s a “leg raise” by name the main goal isn’t to raise my legs as high as I can but rather to flex my spine and push it up and back away from the handles as far as I can, the legs are just a counterbalance.
F**k your lives. I hate everyone.
