5 Things that change when you start training with a coach.

1. You stop guessing. Every session has a purpose. You know what you are doing and why, which makes it much easier to stay consistent.

2. You recover better. A coach monitors your load and catches the signs of overtraining before they become injuries. Most self-coached athletes never see it coming.

3. You get honest feedback. Training alone means you only hear your own voice. A coach tells you what is actually happening in your data.

4. You show up more. Accountability is real. Knowing someone is watching your training file changes how often you skip a session.

5. Progress actually happens. Most athletes who switch from self-coached to coached see improvements within 8 weeks. The structure alone makes a significant difference.

What is one thing you would want a coach to fix in your training? Leave a comment.

4 Things that actually matter on race day.

1. How well you paced the bike. Most athletes ride too hard and pay for it on the run. If the first half of the bike felt easy, you did it right.

2. Your nutrition ex*****on. The athletes who fall apart at mile 80 are almost always the ones who skipped nutrition practice in training.

3. Your ability to stay calm when something goes wrong. Something will go wrong. Your reaction to it is what shapes the rest of your race.

4. Whether you trust your training. Race day is not the time to second-guess your prep. You have done the work. Trust it.

What would you add?

The #1 mistake I see busy professionals make when training for IRONMAN.

They treat every missed workout like a failure and spend the whole training block playing catch-up. Work runs late. A kid gets sick. Life happens. And suddenly they are doubling up sessions or cramming in volume they skipped, which is how injuries happen.

Consistency over a long period of time matters more than any single week of training. A 90% athlete over six months beats a 100% athlete for three weeks who then breaks down.

When life gets in the way, skip the session cleanly. Do not try to make it up. Move on.

What tends to get in the way of your training the most?

This is the lesson that breaks every ego in the door. The faster you want to get, the slower most of your training needs to be.

When 80 percent of your work is genuinely easy, your body adapts instead of breaking. You build the aerobic engine that actually carries you 140.6 miles. Athletes who can't slow down stall out and get hurt.

It feels wrong. It feels like cheating. It's the science.

Does going slow drive you crazy too? You're not alone.

5 Things nobody tells you before your first IRONMAN.

For a FREE coaching consultation click the link in bio.

1. Your first long brick workout will break you mentally. Not physically. Mentally. That is completely normal. Push through it.

2. The swim is the least important discipline on paper and the most terrifying in your head. Get in open water as soon as possible.

3. You will question whether you signed up for the right race at least once during training. Keep going.

4. Nutrition is a skill you have to practice, not figure out on race day. Every long ride is a nutrition rehearsal.

5. Your social life will change. Not disappear, but change. The athletes who handle this best accept it early.

Most people will tell you their goal is the finish line. The medal. The photo at mile 140.6 with their arms in the air. And sure, that's part of it.

But somewhere around month four of training, when the alarm goes off before sunrise and your legs are already tired from yesterday and the weekend long ride feels like a punishment, the finish line stops being the point.

What takes over is something harder to name. A need to know what you're actually made of. Whether the version of yourself you've been telling people about is real, or just something you say at dinner parties.

IRONMAN strips that away. There's no faking it on a long ride. No performing for an audience during a 90-minute run in the rain. It's just you and the question you signed up to answer.

The finish line is how you know the answer. But the question is why you started.

06/23/2026

Somewhere out there is the person who crossed that line. Calmer. Stronger. Less afraid of hard things.

Every session you complete is you closing the gap between who you are today and who that person already is. You're not chasing fitness. You're catching up to yourself.

The doubt you feel right now? That's just the distance talking. Keep moving and it shrinks.

Who are you becoming through this? Tell me below.

06/19/2026

Here's the truth about Ironman training that nobody tells you up front: the doubt doesn't disappear. Not after your first good long run. Not after your first open-water swim. Not even after months of consistent training.

What changes is the relationship between you and the doubt. It gets quieter. Not because it stops talking, but because your actions have made you too loud to hear it clearly.

Every workout you complete when you didn't feel like it is a deposit into that account. Save this for the day you need to remember why you keep going.

06/16/2026

You think you signed up for a race. What you actually signed up for is a new answer to the question "who am I now?"

The athlete you were at 22 isn't gone. He's been waiting. This is the process of meeting him again with everything you've learned since.

The physical changes are real, but they're not the point. The point is who you become while earning them.

What made you finally start? I'd love to read it below.

Every session is a vote. Not for fitness, but for the kind of person you're deciding to become.

The future version of you, the one standing at that finish line, is built out of a thousand small, unglamorous choices made on ordinary days when nobody was watching.

You're not just doing a workout. You're casting a vote for who you are.

What vote are you casting this week? Tell me below.
