Chamomile is a much loved, staple herb for good reason.
Most people know chamomile as a cozy herb to support for sleep, but Matricaria recutita, or chamomile, belongs to the Asteraceae family and offers a beautiful combination of bitter, aromatic, and subtly sweet qualities. And these qualities tell us how the plant works within the body.
Its gentle bitterness helps prepare the digestive system, by encouraging healthy digestive secretions, while its aromatic oils help ease bloating, gas, and digestive discomfort. This is why a warm cup of chamomile can feel just as comforting after a meal as it does before sleep.
From an energetic perspective, chamomile is considered cooling, drying, and relaxing. It can be especially supportive when there is “heat” and tension showing up in the body, like irritability, restlessness, digestive cramping, or inflammation accompanied by stress.
We see chamomile as:
🌿 A bitter tonic that gently supports digestion.
🌿 A carminative that helps move stagnant gas and ease bloating.
🌿 A spasmolytic that relaxes muscle tension and digestive cramping.
🌿 A nervine that nourishes and calms the nervous system.
🌿 An herb that helps modulate inflammation throughout the body.
A great reminder is that the digestive and nervous systems are deeply connected, so when we’re stressed, digestion often suffers. When digestion is uncomfortable, our nervous system can become more reactive. Chamomile shows up to support both.
Some gardeners will chamomile in their gardens have noticed that plants growing near it often seem healthier and more resilient. Through its gentle, it’s a constant that’s there to help. 🌼

Herbs to support us during the summer months to cool down!
Our weekly tea 🍵 in shop has a blend of cooling herbs brewed fresh to make it even easier for you when you visit.
Some important cooling herbs 👇
🌿 Hibiscus – antioxidant rich & traditionally used to support healthy circulation and hydration. Its tart, vibrant flavor is a refreshing summertime favorite.
🌿 Lavender – A calming herb that can support to ease tension, support relaxation, and bring a sense of calm to both body and mind.
🌿 Peppermint – Cooling, invigorating, and supportive for digestion. Peppermint is often used to help refresh the senses during hot weather.
🌿 Spearmint – Gentler than peppermint, spearmint offers a cooling effect while traditionally supporting digestion and hormonal balance.
Cooling herbs play an important role during the summer months, and can be enjoyed by brewing tisanes, making sprays, herbal baths, and other uses depending on culture/tradition. They help us to balance excess heat while encouraging hydration, clarity, & ease.
If you’re curious about seasonal herbs or would like a custom blend for your unique needs, come by the shop or send us a message!

Our essential oils wall has lots of information and ways of relating to the essential oils: there’s a line of single oils that are potent and organically sourced and bottled here in shop, essential oil roll on blends, herbal spritz using essential oils & an alcohol/water combination, all natural bug spray, and the option always open to choose an oil or oils of your choice to be made into a spray or roll on for yourself!
For aromatherapy and diffusers, you only need a couple of drops since each bottle is potent in each drop.
On the same wall there’s a book to breakdown each oil and its uses. We’re also always open to questions and to help!

Some healing happens with gentleness.
Our “Calma” blend made with Skullcap, Chamomile, Oatstraw, and Butterfly Pea Flower is crafted to soothe, nourish, and gently guide awareness back into presence.
This is for:
* People feeling stressed, overstimulated, or mentally fatigued
* Those seeking a gentle evening ritual
* Caregivers, healers, teachers, and anyone who gives a lot of themselves
* People wanting to cultivate calm focus rather than sedation
Steep 1–2 teaspoons in hot water for 10–15 minutes. Enjoy as an afternoon reset, evening wind-down, or during meditation, journaling, or quiet reflection. The longer steep helps draw out more of oatstraw’s nourishing qualities.
Sip slowly. The medicine is often in the pause.
Join us Friday, June 26 for Open Mic Night! 🎤
Whether you’re performing or just soaking in the vibes, all are welcome. Poetry, music, stories, and spontaneous magic encouraged. Shop will be open, and herbal drinks will be available all evening!
