The USMNT experiment that sounds completely made up. 🇺🇸⚽

In 1983, the U.S. tried to solve its World Cup problem by creating Team America: a domestic pro team built around national team players, dropped straight into the NASL.

Big idea. Wild ex*****on. Pure retro soccer chaos.

Would this idea ever work today? 👀

Jersey of the Week 🔥🏆

The champs are still undefeated.

Last year, the Albany Firebirds ran through the league without a loss and brought home the championship.
This year? They still haven’t slowed down.

Now their championship jersey is on the clock. ⏳

One week left before this edition is gone for good.

The bigger question:
Can anybody actually stop the Firebirds this season? 👀🏈

One contract changed hockey forever. 💰🏒

In 1972, the WHA fired the first real shot at the NHL.

The Winnipeg Jets stunned the sports world by stealing Bobby Hull away from Chicago with a then-unheard-of $1 million signing bonus.

Overnight, the WHA went from “startup league” to full-blown threat.

Bigger contracts.
Bigger battles.
Bigger personalities.

Hockey’s salary wars started right here.

And the Jets? They looked unreal doing it.

We’ve got classic 1970s Winnipeg Jets throwbacks live in the shop now.

The Battle of Toronto 🍁🐂

Before the city was painted blue and white, the Toronto Toros rolled into Maple Leaf Gardens and turned Toronto into a two-team hockey warzone.

Leafs owner Harold Ballard took that personally.
So personally, in fact, that he allegedly:

* shut off the hot water in the Toros locker room 🚿
* dimmed the arena lights during practices 💡
* forced them into awkward game times ⏰
* and made life in the Gardens feel like hockey purgatory with skates on.

Petty levels: legendary.

So settle it 👇
Who had the cleaner look: the Toros or the Leafs?

The lights finally went out on the Cleveland Force OTD in 2005. ⚽️

For indoor soccer fans, the Force were chaos in the best way possible:
packed arenas, wild turf, fast goals, and peak early-2000s MISL energy.

One of those teams that felt larger than life… until suddenly they weren’t.

Forgotten by most. Legendary to the people who were there.

Some leagues fade.
Some leave fingerprints on the game forever.

Before the USFL.
Before the XFL.
The AFA was already trying to make spring football work.

Fast-forward decades later… and the blueprint still looks familiar.

Forgotten league.
Underrated history.
Classic uniforms that still deserve a spotlight.

Before the majors arrived, San Diego already had a baseball identity. 🌴⚾️

From 1936 to 1968, the Pacific Coast League Padres packed Lane Field and turned summer nights into tradition.
Long before MLB expansion, this city already lived and breathed baseball.

Forgotten leagues. Historic jerseys. Stories worth bringing back.

Some jerseys came back because they were legendary.
The Bumblebees came back because nobody could forget them. 🐝

Originally worn by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1934, the black-and-gold stripes became one of the wildest looks football had ever seen.

Fans laughed.
Players got compared to bees.
And somehow… that’s exactly why they lasted.

As shown in this video, the stripes returned decades later because the jersey became bigger than the jokes. It turned into a symbol of old-school football culture and one of the most recognizable throwbacks in the sport.

It represented:

gritty football
personality
risk-taking design
a time before everything looked corporate and polished

Not clean.
Not modern.
Just unforgettable.

Sometimes the weirdest uniforms become the most iconic.

3 years.
1 wild ride.
The Toronto Toros weren’t around long, but they became one of the defining teams of the WHA era.

Big personalities.
Wild crowds.
Red, white, and blue on the ice before hockey got polished and corporate.

The Toros represented everything the WHA stood for:

chaos
competition
swagger
taking swings at the establishment

For a brief moment, hockey felt louder, faster, and completely unpredictable.

That’s why people still remember them.

WHA Legends. 🏒
