A selfie + 3 things happening in my life today = ~ a lovely creative connection shared by rukristin Feminist Scrapbooker 💖~
1 ~ 🍄I had another chance to visit “Subverted Landscapes” by the artist Kiki today and she gifted me with one of the pottery and wood mushrooms from her beautiful piece. Simple
Check out my earlier post to learn more about her magical mushroom sculpture created for BIFA via Breck Create .
2 ~ 💖 Like so many, I’ve been celebrating the life and grieving the passing of the one-of-a-kind Dolly Parton these past two days.
She’s inspired so many of us to be better humans and I’m heartened by the belief that her legacy of love and human kindness and decency will continue to shine a bright light to make this world a better place.
3 ~ 🫎 I’ve enjoyed two more amazing encounters with mountain wildlife this week. Two more bucks came around and then a mama and her baby came right up on our back patio and gorgeous red fox trotted through the back yard.
It felt like I was watching a National Geographic special through my sliding glass doors!!! 😊
*✨Consulting: my Cabinet of Creative Counsel (IYKYK)
I shared this last week…but what I didn’t share then was that Dolly Parton was an original member of my Cabinet of Creative Counsel since the one I created.
🎻 Catching ~ more great live music at tonight’s BreckCreate AirStream concert featuring Sugarcane Nellie
📘Reading: The Zen Commandments by Dean Sluyter
🦊 Watching: wildlife out my bedroom window
😊 Meeting: some of the loveliest humans up here in the mountains of Colorado
💗 Putting: a little love in my heart

1 ~ ⛰️My beautiful backyard in the mountains of Colorado this month.
So grateful for this time in Breck with my dad…for the rain…for the amazing creative humans I get to work with…for the ability to work remotely…for the people taking care of my home in Dallas…for the lovely people who live and work here and make this place so very special!
2 ~ 🎶 Just experienced our third concert in four days tonight! (It’s been a good week for music!)
Started the week off Monday with The Crane Wives at Dillon Amphitheater
Tuesday night ~ Sierra Ferrell and The Brudi Brothers ©️ with the amazing Eleni Rose Govetas (Dillon Amphitheater again - and they played Red Rock last night!)
Tonight ~ a great local Frisco band ~ Beau Thomas with Breck Create at the Riverwalk Center.
(BTW - 🍀how lucky am I that my 82 year old dad is down to check out any and all shows I’m into with me?!)
3 ~ 🦁This Leo moon has me feeling all kinds of let’s f*cking gooooo! (Stay tuned…)
🙏🏼Giving: thanks for my friends, family and life

1 ~ So…turns out all those years of not wearing a retainer after braces finally resulted in a bite so off-kilter and messed up that it needs correcting.
I am now the (somewhat reluctant) wearer of invisalign braces.
Even though I’m not thrilled about the restrictions involved (no more leisurely sipping my cold brew all morning) I am grateful for this option.
2 ~ Looking forward to some mountain time soon.
3 ~ Bought a Liene mini-printer and having fun using it to add small images to my journal pages.
📘 Reading: Bunny by Mona Awad
📺 Watching: Pluribus
📝 Creating: A new mini-course ~ “Magic Action for Mid-Life Creatives” (coming soon!)
🎹 Playing: piano and singing for my own enjoyment more frequently. (A friend asked me if I ever thought about performing around town again. And truthfully, sometimes I do.)

1 ~ I’m having so much fun creating teeny-tiny collages in this teeny-tiny journal. (I’ll share a video of a few pages in my stories.)
This is a fabulous example of a creative practice that’s Delightfully Doable with the expectations lowered to a place of minimum pressure and maximum joy.
2 ~ I have a doozy of an ear-worm song stuck in my head at the moment and no idea where I picked it up.
Because I’m kind-hearted ~ I won’t share what it is so you don’t get stuck with it playing on repeat in your mind too! 😉😂
(I will say this - it’s a big hit from the 80s. Guesses?)
3 ~ Tonight’s airfryer dinner included delicata squash, kale, onions and chicken meatballs tossed in a Primal no-soy teriyaki & dijon sauce. Yum.

1 ~ Loved reading the inspiring, wise, important messages by some of my favorite humans in this issue of .
From people I’ve been lucky enough to know for months, years (even decades!) to those I’ve only met a handful of times or not at all…one thing’s for sure…Dallas is lucky to have them, their talents, their passion and their creative hearts and minds at work in our city!
Thank you
and more
2 ~ I’m back in the rhythm of my evening routine after being out of town a couple of weeks.
My favorites are the analog bits: making collages and other for-the-fun-of-it art, reading some fiction and then an early lights out.
3 ~ I’m working on a new DIY course to help mid-life multipassionate creatives stop waiting for the “perfect time” and go right ahead and prioritize their creative passion projects now. (Stay tuned…)
📖 Reading: latest issue of D Magazine
📺 Watching: Shrinking
🌻 Loving: the sunflowers I bought for myself
🎧 Listening: to Amy Poehler interview Cindy Lauper on Good Hang
🍗 Air-frying: EVERYTHING! (finally got one and I can’t stop myself!)

☀️A holiday weekend with a big chunk of time is just what you need to dive back into creative projects that’ve been on perpetual hold ~ right?
* Clean out and organize your art supplies
* Edit the most recent draft of your play
* Cull the boatload of photos you’ve taken the past 5 years
* Play around with some ideas you have for new songs
* Finish the painting course you bought last January
I don’t want to burst your bubble…but here’s why that’s highly unlikely to happen.
You don’t have a “quantity of time” problem…you have a “quality of time” problem.
Because when you wait until you have a huge swath of uninterrupted time once in a blue moon ~ you end up putting way too much pressure on yourself.
All of a sudden the passion project you’ve been day-dreaming about non-stop feels like a pressure-filled “have to do” instead of a joy-filled “get to do.”
The good news? You don’t need to wait for another rare 3-day weekend to make this happen.
This is exactly why I love hosting weekly Magic Action Dates ~ the co-creation/accountability sessions that are a beloved feature of both my group and 1-1 coaching programs.
My clients know they can count on scheduled time (up to 3x/week) to prioritize their projects alongside other highly motivated creatives.
✅ It’s how the painting course actually gets finished. How the photos actually get culled. How the play draft actually gets edited ~ not “someday,” but this month.
This is just one example of the personalized, weekly support you’ll experience inside Creative Oasis Coaching.
When you’re ready to build consistent momentum with your creative projects ~ instead of waiting for 3-day weekends and the stars to align...
Comment “clarity” and I’ll send you the link to request a Clarity Call so we can choose the program that’s right for you.

A selfie + 3 things happening in my life today = ~ a lovely creative connection shared by 💖~
1 - Just back from a lovely time visiting friends while working remotely in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest areas of Portland and Seattle.
I remember years ago dreaming of a day I’d have the freedom to run my coaching business from anywhere with a good wifi signal.
Very grateful that as of the last seven years or eight that’s been my reality.
2 - I absolutely LOVE seeing people around the world come together in such beautiful, supportive ways during the World Cup!
Japan’s fans cleaning up the stadiums after matches. Iranian players leaving lovely notes for the other team. Opposing teams celebrating each other’s wins!
May it inspire us all to live with more acceptance, empathy, openness and joy as a global nation!
3 ~ Speaking of FIFA ~ I hosted some lovely Netherland fans in my house while I traveled using a home-swapping network that I’ve been a member of for about a year and I love it!
If you’re curious to check it out let me know and I’ll send you an invitation link for 5 free nights to give it a whirl.
So far I’ve stayed in 2 places and hosted 2 times and all of my experiences have been fantastic!
📚Reading: Villa Coco
🍿Watching: Disclosure Day (loved it!)
⛅️Walking: as early as possible to beat the heat (I’m like a shade-seeking missile!)
🥰 Loving: Everything Matthew Friend does!
🙏🏼Feeling: Grateful that my dad’s minor surgery went well today

"You helped me feel unafraid to get out of my own way."
That's what a participant wrote after I recently led Audacious Creativity ~ a Virtual Field Trip I hosted for CreativeMornings.
If "getting out of your own way" is something you've told yourself you need to do a hundred times… keep reading ~ I have something for you.
"No one will ever want to buy this jewelry."
"Who am I to write a book about photography?"
"I'm too old to start my business idea now."
Sound familiar?
That's your inner critic. And it’s been running the show for long enough.
Imagine one of those thoughts popping into your head and instead of shrinking, you literally laugh out loud and say "Not today."
Because when you know how to quiet your inner critic ~ even a little ~ something shifts.
💖 You remember that if you love your woo-woo jewelry design ~ so will someone else on the planet.
💖 You remind yourself that while you're still breathing and have the desire… it is NOT too late!
This is exactly what you learn inside Audacious Creativity ~ one of four lessons in my $17 Creative Oasis Blueprint ~ DIY mini-course.
Here's what a few other participants had to say:
"An energizing experience that started with visualization. What a powerful way to shift states."
"I loved the thought prompts! They allowed me to be focused, introspective, and patient with myself."
"I loved learning practical tools I can use immediately."
