She had been telling me that I would love yoga, and I only went to humor her. But, something about the totality of the experience aroused my curiosity. It was not long before I took a Baron Baptiste power flow class from Jessica Young, and I was hooked pretty soon there after. I began to explore Baron Baptiste through videos and workshops and then began trying different classes by other teachers. As I went through graduate school and began the balancing act of three children, a traveling husband and the search for what I wanted to be “when I grew up”, it was my yoga teachers that taught me to breathe through the hard parts. Of course, if you have a vigorous, consistent practice you will enjoy the physical benefits from yoga, but that is only a part of what has kept me practicing all these years. I love yoga and I love teaching yoga. Kendall Inman, Julie Boyd, Susie Caicedo and Amy Johnson are some of the teachers that have inspired me to deepen my personal practice and pursue teaching. I started off teaching yoga to children, which was a natural fit for me as my masters degree is in counseling with a play therapy focus. I completed my 200-hr Yoga Alliance certification In Vinyasa yoga with Pure Yoga taught by DeAnna Anderson and Jason Lobo. I continue to add to my understanding of yoga by reading and attending workshops of respected teachers both locally and nationally. I have been honored to learn from David Swenson and Sean Corn to name a few. I like to teach a power flow with creative sequencing and fun music.
