July faculty announcement!! Sofia Bidne, DBC alum and Pacific Northwest Ballet Corps de Ballet member, is guest teaching at DBC this month! Register now!

Ms. Bidne will be teaching at our Half Day Ballet Intensive July 27-31, 1-5pm.

This is a technique-focused half-day workshop designed to challenge experienced ballet dancers ages 10-13 with one year or less of pointe experience (including pre-pointe students). Previous ballet training required. DBC Levels IIB-III.

She will also be teaching at our evening technique classes July 20, 22, 27, and 29.

Sofia Bidne trained at The Dallas Ballet Center and the Professional Division of Pacific Northwest Ballet School. Sofia has attended summer programs at School of American Ballet, Ballet West, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and European School of Ballet.

Since graduating from The Dallas Ballet Center, she has returned to teach at their summer intensives and lead occasional master classes. Last summer, Sofia spent time at Jacob’s Pillow, where she worked with choreographers Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Durante Verzola while collaborating with artists from across the country.

Always a favorite at our summer intensive: African dance with Nycole Ray , Jazmun McCoy, and Christopher King Rollins playing the drums!

Professional Guest Artist Maté Szentes with our oldest dancers during the first week of our ballet intensive at DBC!

Mr. Szentes was born in Budapest, Hungary, and danced professionally with the Hungarian National Ballet and the Richmond Ballet in Virginia. He was a soloist with Sacramento Ballet and is a principal dancer with American Contemporary Ballet in Los Angeles, CA. Additionally Mr. Szentes has performed many guest artist roles and we have been honored to have him perform the role of Cavalier in Dallas Ballet Company’s The Nutcracker!

How lucky are we to have had Christina Ghiardi all week at our ballet intensive and at every level?! Even our youngest dancers had the opportunity to take class with Ms. Ghiardi! She even taught our oldest dancers a few steps from the Dew Drop variation which she performed in Nevada Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker!

Ms. Ghiardi will be back at Dallas Ballet Center in August to choreograph her 9th original work on Dallas Ballet Company!

Students ages 10-18 took classes in ballet technique and pointe, variations, men’s class, pirouette, petit allegro, African, contemporary, modern, musical theater, PBT, and strength/conditioning.

Dallas Ballet Center’s intensive summer workshop is designed for the intermediate to advanced dancer (ages 10-18) who has had several years of ballet study. The workshop seeks to challenge dancers who are seriously interested in the ballet arts, and expose them to other dance disciplines.
