The Huangdi Neijing (黃帝內經), Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, states: "Humans possess five internal organs that transform into five types of *qi*, giving rise to joy, anger, sorrow, worry, and fear."
Emotions do not arise "suddenly"; rather, they are the internal organs "speaking."
The Heart is governed by joy,
The Liver is governed by anger,
The Spleen is governed by worry,
The Lungs is governed by sorrow,
The Kidneys is governed by fear.
When the internal organs are out of balance, emotions naturally spiral out of control … and vice versa, I would say.
