We're introducing the instructors of the upcoming the Bytown Ottawa Sword Symposium!

Haven't heard of us yet? No worries! Visit https://ottawaswordsymposium.ca to learn more about the event and register.

We're lucky to have several experienced instructors joining us from across the Historical Martial Arts community - and today, it's... hey wait a minute, that's one of ours! What's Jay Lyonsmith doing in here?

Jay is an 11 year veteran of historical martial arts, having been a founding member of the Ottawa Historical Fencing Society, and a long time sword nerd well before that. He would be the first to say he's not an amazing fencer - but he is very experienced in community building and teaching techniques, and is well versed in his favourite style of combat: the medieval sword and buckler.

While at BOSS, Jay will be teaching a class on... running a class. Yeah we all rolled our eyes too, but Jay's experience and insights into what makes a good class or event has benefitted our organization for years and whether you're an old hand at teaching or nervously looking to start your first class, Jay is an excellent choice to learn from!

Register soon so you don't miss the chance to learn from our best community organizer; and we hope to see you at Boss!

We're lucky to have several experienced instructors joining us from across the Historical Martial Arts community - and today, it's Philippe-Alexandre Gendron of of la Compagnie Medievale ()!
Phillippe is another member of the Montreal crew that has been responsible for many of the largest events in the area. He's been a familiar sight for visiting fencers, and has been fulfilling the role of instructor while helping manage all those events!
While at BOSS, Phillipe will be showing us that you can indeed stab in Meyer's system! Rounding off the Symposium's Meyer theme this year, Phillipe's introduction to Meyer's rappier/sidesword is just the thing to bridge the gap between the medieval and the renaissance!
Register soon so you don't miss the point of learning from our Stabbiest Montreal friend; and stay tuned as we introduce our final instructor!

We're lucky to have several experienced instructors joining us from across the Historical Martial Arts community - and today, it's Beau Brock of the Academy of European Martial Arts - Ottawa ()!

Beau is an incredibly experienced scholar and fencer - taking up the sword in 2006, moving to study HEMA in 2008, and bringing AEMMA to Ottawa shortly afterwards as a Free Scholar in their system. His love has remained Bolognese fencing the whole time, and has led a very successful club in the Capital Region while continuing to develop his take on Renaissance masters like Anonimo Riccardiano!

While at BOSS, Beau will be teaching Achille Marozzo's pugnale dagger, and an introduction to the unique early days of Neapolitan fencing under master Marc'Antonio Pagano!

Register soon so you don't miss the chance to learn from one of Ottawa's most veteran scholars; and stay tuned as we introduce our final instructor!
