And sometimes, the best place to learn that lesson is in the saddle. 🐴
Today we want to congratulate Haley, our Barrington Hill IEA Team Captain, for doing exactly what a captain should do: leading by example.
Haley has been putting in the work to master the seated canter—a skill that requires strength, balance, feel, body control and countless repetitions to make something incredibly difficult eventually look effortless.
There are no shortcuts.
You try. You make a mistake. You listen to your coach. You adjust. You get stronger.
You try again.
And somewhere along the way, you realize the lesson was never only about learning to ride.
This level of riding teaches young people to accept constructive criticism, manage frustration, work through discomfort, stay humble, develop discipline and understand that progress is earned through consistency.
Those lessons follow them far beyond the show ring.
When parents invest in quality riding instruction, they aren't simply investing in ribbons, horse shows or time in the saddle.
They are investing in the person their child is becoming.
A young person who knows how to work for something.
Who doesn't quit because it's difficult.
Who understands that excellence takes time.
Who can receive correction and come back better.
Who discovers the confidence that comes from finally accomplishing something they once couldn't do.
And perhaps most importantly, someone who learns that success isn't given—it is built.
We are incredibly proud of you, Haley. Keep putting in the work, keep raising the standard, and keep showing our younger Barrington Hill Bears what leadership looks like. 💙🐻🐴
