Every student who walks through our doors holds a special and meaningful place in our hearts. That is why saying goodbye, no matter the reason, is never easy.
Michael has trained with us since the early days of our dojang. As his family prepares to move to Virginia, we marked our final moment together with a private belt testing held especially for him.
The framed gift he gave us was filled with our shared passion and sincerity, along with the warmth of his heart. The deep bond it represents will remain in my heart for many years to come as his instructor.
When I operated the Topclass headquarters in Korea, many masters and instructors visited our dojang to observe and learn. I also traveled to nationally recognized Taekwondo schools throughout Korea and outstanding dojangs across the United States—communicating, learning, growing, and building relationships founded on mutual respect. Those connections remain one of my greatest and most irreplaceable treasures.
And as if guided by fate, near Michael’s new home in Virginia is the dojang of the master who taught me when I was young. Michael will continue his Taekwondo journey there under the guidance of my own master.
The teachings I received from my master were passed through me to my student—and now that student will continue his journey beside the very master who first guided me.
Could there be a connection more meaningful or touching than this?!🤍🤍
This is not truly goodbye. Although distance may separate us physically, our hearts and the bond we share through Taekwondo will always keep us connected.
Until the day we meet again, goodbye for now, Michael.
