💙 Coach Audrey’s biggest tip for parents? Every child learns at their own pace.
Some swimmers build confidence quickly. Others need a little more time—and that’s completely okay.
At SwimKids, we meet each child where they are. Our instructors adapt lessons to fit your child’s unique personality, comfort level, and learning style, helping them grow one step at a time.
Progress isn’t about comparing your child to someone else’s. It’s about celebrating each milestone, big or small, and building the confidence that lasts a lifetime.
Every child deserves the chance to learn in a way that works for them, and we’ll be there to support them every step of the journey. 💦💙

We’ve been saying this for years
Most parents think of swimming as a way to keep kids active. But researchers and therapists have been paying close attention to something deeper: the way water changes how children regulate their emotions and behavior.
Swimming and aquatic therapy have been shown to improve emotional regulation, attention, behavior, and psychosocial functioning in children — including those with ADHD and autism spectrum disorder. These benefits go well beyond what you would expect from burning energy alone.
Swimming engages multiple sensory systems, providing proprioceptive, vestibular, and tactile feedback. The hydrostatic pressure of water can provide deep pressure stimulation — a similar sensation to a hug — which has been shown to calm the nervous system and improve focus.
Deep pressure increases parasympathetic activity (rest-and-digest) and reduces sympathetic activity (fight-or-flight), lowering stress and anxiety. It can also increase serotonin and dopamine, supporting mood stability and a grounded feeling.
Regular swimming training has been shown to stimulate the development of children's nervous, muscular, and motor systems more effectively than many other forms of physical activity. The rhythmic, repetitive nature of swimming strokes adds an additional layer of calm — one that tends to carry over well beyond the pool.
It is no surprise, then, that occupational therapists and pediatric physiotherapists regularly incorporate aquatic activity into therapeutic programs for children who struggle with sensory regulation and behavioral challenges.

From tears to “Can I stay a little longer?” 💙
When this little guy first started Survival lessons, the pool felt big, unfamiliar, and overwhelming. Like many children, he let us know exactly how he felt.
Fast forward to today, and now he’s asking for more time in the water.
Moments like these remind us that confidence isn’t built overnight. It grows one lesson, one small victory, and one encouraging instructor at a time.
Every child learns differently, and we’re honored to help them discover just how capable they are.
The smiles at the end make every challenge worth it. 🏊‍♂️✨

What exactly is Survival Swim? đź’¦
At its core, Survival Swim teaches children the life-saving skills they need to become safer and more confident in the water.
Through age-appropriate, one-on-one instruction, children learn skills like floating, breath control, and safe movement in the water, all while building confidence and independence along the way.
In this video, our owner and Head Mermaid, Nadyne, shares the basics of what Survival Swim is and why it’s such an important foundation for young swimmers.
Have questions about our program? We’d love to help! Gave us a call to learn more. 💙
One of our favorite moments during Survival Swim lessons is when it clicks… 💙
The moment a child realizes, “I can do it!”
Because Survival Swim is about so much more than learning a skill in the water. It’s about building confidence, independence, and helping children discover they’re capable of doing hard things.
With encouragement, consistency, and the support of instructors like Naydne, those little victories become big milestones. 👏💦
Every lesson is a step toward a safer, more confident swimmer.
💦 Coach Kayla’s Swim Tip: Make swimming FUN!
When kids are having fun in the water, they’re more likely to stay engaged, build confidence, and remember the skills they’re learning. Positive experiences help children create a healthy relationship with swimming, making them excited to come back and continue improving.
Because the more fun they have, the more they’ll learn. 💙
