People ask how do you keep your butt in shape riding 30 plus century’s in a row. It’s a process. Make sure your fit is dialed in. May have to make some small changes to saddle position and bar height on the trip to change your pelvic rotation. That is one of the reasons I use aero bars. Helps the hands and rolled the pelvis to a different pressure spot. I bring different saddles mounted on seat posts already so I can swap them out quick when a hot spot starts or to prevent one. I like the leather seats as they mold to you. With a tight right hip the leather adjust to the inward tilt. Plus they work like a hammock for suspension. Worth the break in. Then 4 different style shorts from 3 different brands. They all fit slight different and pads are not the same. Then I use a dipper rash cream at the start of every day on the wear areas. Usually where the leg connects to the butt. Then good old chamois cream when needed. At the end of the ride right to the room for a shower and dry shorts. More than you want to know but we all deal with it.

We have made it to Lima Ohio. Almost 3,000 miles done. Last few days have been light tail winds, overcast and super humid. It feels odd to say the last three days have been just 100 miles and like recovery days. We have ridden easy after the head winds and hills of southern WI. One more day in Ohio tomorrow. 124 miles and 3400 feet of climb. Then the last week is all up and down across PA, NY, VT and NH. On the home stretch. Butt getting tired. Keep on trucking. More to come.

A few pics from the last couple of days. 400 miles in just the last three days. Made it to La Crosse WI tonight. My friend Paul, owner of, Blue Steel Bikes and neutral support came thru for us today. He lives in La Crosse and builds steel and TI frames. A rider broke a hub on a wheel and he came right over with fresh wheel to get him going. Thank you Paul! More to come. We have had some long days with head winds and detours. Two days that turn into over 140 milers. With no rest days it’s a test of mind and body. Keep on trucking. More to come.

We made it to South Dakota. Great riding thru the Black Hills and the Bad Lands. We now have two weeks of flatter riding after lots of climbing. A relief. Coming from the flat lands the mountains wear you out. Two weeks in and people are getting into the grove. Now straight across South Dakota and Minnesota to La Crosse. Looks like good weather other than headwinds for a couple days. More to come.

Made all 125 miles and 8000ft of climb. Now we head towards Rapid City. Some pics of the going ons and place we have been. More to come.

A few more pics . We made it to Bozeman MT. We have 830 miles done so far, so close to a quarter of the way. Today was overcast and cool. Smoke is minimal which is great. But now head winds that are strong. The group of 16 riders are working well together. We seem to break into groups of 2 to 4. At the end of the day everyone is with in a hour of each other. That makes it easy for the crew for stops and setting up lunch. More to come.

Here we go again. One more transcontinental. Could not say no. The camaraderie of the group feels like home. These trips you learn more about yourself. Plus makes me better at my job helping customers. Seattle WA to New Hampshire. Today was arrival day and shake down of the bikes before we start tomorrow. We will ride to the ferry and take it to Whidbey island go north to Sedro Woolley for the first day. Then cross three passes to Winthrop. Looks like the fires are calming down for now. So we hopefully will not have to reroute. Here are some pictures of the vans and check in. One van carry’s all the food and sets up for lunch on the road. The red truck is the motel truck and it carry’s our luggage and has a work shop inside for vehicle and bike repairs. The third vans is back and stops. PAC Tour provides stops about every 25 miles and lunch at 75. Average day is 106 miles and 4,500 feet of climb. No rest days. Will post more. Giddy Up!
