International Overdose Awareness Day 🎗️💜

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we pause to remember every life touched, altered, or tragically lost to overdose.

Behind every statistic is a person, a son, daughter, sibling, parent, neighbor, or friend, whose life mattered and whose loss is deeply felt. Grief and addiction can affect families in ways that are incredibly difficult to navigate, and sometimes the weight of it can feel like too much to carry. Please remember that you do not have to go through it alone. There are people who care and are here to support you.

Addiction can be difficult and complicated, but recovery is possible. Whether you are working through your own recovery, trying to support someone you care about, or grieving the loss of someone you love, you do not have to face it alone. At The Fountains Counseling Center, we want to provide a space where you can feel safe, heard, and supported without fear of judgment. You are welcome here, wherever you are in your journey.

Need Immediate Support? If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, support is available 24/7. You do not have to handle it alone.

• 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 for free, confidential support anytime, day or night.

•National Drug Helpline: Call 844-289-0879 for support with substance use and recovery. drughelpline.org

• National Parent & Youth Helpline: Call or text 855-427-2736 for support for parents, caregivers, children, and young adults. nationalparentyouthhelpline.org

•Partnership to End Addiction: Call 855-378-4373 for support, guidance, and resources for families affected by addiction.

National health data helps us to understand just how deeply this crisis impacts communities across the country. Recent statistics only reinforce the urgent need for accessible care, open conversations, and widespread harm reduction resources.

•Over 105,000 individuals in the United States lost their lives to drug-involved overdoses in a single recent annual tracking period, driven significantly by the proliferation of illicitly manufactured fentanyl (National Institute on Drug Abuse [NIDA], 2024).

• Provisional data from public health agencies continues to emphasize the critical need for community-level intervention, early support, and accessible treatment pathways (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2026).

If you or someone you care about is ready to take the next step toward treatment, several local facilities provide professional detox, residential care, and outpatient counseling throughout the Crowley, Burleson, and Fort Worth areas:

•Texas Health Huguley is located in Burleson, Texas. What makes this treatment center is a Joint Commission-accredition facility that offers comprehensive substance use treatment and medical support.

• Arise Recovery Centers is located in Fort Worth, TX just off Camp Bowie Boulevard. Arise serves the community by providing specialized outpatient addiction treatment, partial hospitalization, and dual-diagnosis support.

•Riverwalk Ranch is located in the Mansfield/Crowley area of North Texas. They provide comprehensive residential addiction treatment and medical detox services located right along Dick Price Road.

Plot twist: Saying "no" doesn't make you a bad person. 🛑✨

Somewhere along the way, our society picked up this exhausting rule that to be a good friend, partner, or family member we should say yes as often as possible. But if we agreed to every bid for our attention and time, we would begin running ourselves completely into the ground by trying to keep everyone else happy.

If your social battery is currently flashing red, or you're carrying the weight of a hundred tiny obligations that aren't even yours to manage, hear this: Setting a boundary isn't shutting people out; it's preserving your energy so you actually have something left to give. You are allowed to protect your peace without apologizing for it. 💛

What is one boundary you’re practicing this week? (Or if you're like us, just drop a ✋ if you needed to hear this today!)
