🚨 TEXT NECK ISN’T JUST A FLEXIBILITY PROBLEM… IT’S A STRENGTH & CONTROL PROBLEM. 👇📱🧠
If you spend hours looking down at your phone, laptop, or tablet, your head is constantly being pulled forward ⬇️
Over time, your body can adapt to that position — and instead of your deep neck muscles doing their job, other muscles start picking up the slack. 😬
Your deep neck flexors are supposed to help stabilize your head and keep your cervical spine controlled. But when they aren’t strong enough or aren’t being used effectively, muscles like your upper traps and SCM can become overactive as they try to help stabilize your head. 💪➡️😵💫
That’s why simply stretching your neck over and over may not address the underlying issue.
🔥 THIS BAND CHIN TUCK TRAINS THE OPPOSITE OF THE “TEXT NECK” POSITION.
Here’s what’s happening:
▫️ The band pulls your head forward and slightly downward ➡️
Your job is to resist that force by gently driving your chin backward.
▫️ You’re training strength, not just stretching 🏋️♂️
Because the band provides resistance, you can progressively increase the challenge over time. That gives your deep neck flexors an actual stimulus to get stronger.
▫️ You’re teaching your head to stay stacked over your body 🧱
The goal isn’t to aggressively jam your chin into your chest. It’s to create a controlled “double chin” position while keeping your head and neck aligned.
▫️ The wall helps eliminate cheating 🧱🙌
Keeping your hands locked into the wall gives you stability and makes it harder to shrug your shoulders or compensate with your upper traps.
▫️ Control > range of motion 🎯
This isn’t about cranking your neck backward or forcing a huge movement. The quality of the contraction matters more than how far you move.
Think about it this way:
📱 Your phone constantly encourages your head to drift FORWARD.
🏋️♂️ Your training should teach your head to resist that force and maintain better CONTROL + STABILITY.
