New England Shuhari

New England Shuhari We are the USA headquarters for the Shobukan of Okinawa under the guidance of Hanshi Giyu Gibo. We teach traditional Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate and Kobudo.

While preserving the tradition we also focus on effective, practical self defense. We are the USA Headquarters for the Shuhari Martial Arts Regokai. The New England Shorin Ryu Shuhari teaches traditional Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate with an emphasis on self defense. We have classes for Adults and children. Our association welcomes and allows dojo's from other styles to become members of our organization. This collaborative approach will strengthen us as martial artists and as an organization as well. . ANNOUNCEMENT:

🥋We are proud and deeply honored to announce that as of today, August 9, 2026, Sensei Ken Lyons has been officially appointed as the USA Representative for the Okinawa Shorin-Ryu Shobu-Kan Association, under the direction of Hanshi Giyu Gibo.
With this prestigious appointment, our dojo, New England Shuhari, officially becomes the United States Headquarters for the Shobukan organization.This milestone marks an exciting new chapter for our dojo family. We look forward to preserving, sharing, and growing the authentic lineage and teachings of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu karate here in the United States.Thank you to Hanshi Giyu Gibo for his trust and guidance, and to our dedicated students and community for your continued support on this martial arts journey.Ganbatte kudasai!
