Tomorrow (July 18) is the date for our next gathering. As always, bring a board and we will have a few extras to share. 8-10 am in Newport.

From 10-12 am we’re going to walk over to the 32nd street location of 15thstsurfshop (3138 W 32nd St) to share our new pop up.

Long before tiny bluetooth microphones and AI prompts, this is about what surfboard advertisements looked like. CMYK instead of RGB. Printed in a magazine whose arrival was a dopamine hit in and of itself.

The surf thump is a great beach break noserider that fits in beachy pockets better than some of our wider-nosed longboard models. I keep coming back to this board because it’s the perfect blend of lively and stable.

If you longboard in waves that aren’t always slow and rolling, this is a great option.

In 2024 we shaped a 3’10” shortboard that we started bringing along to our Early & Often Surf Club events. The challenge was: if anyone could catch a wave on it, and do two turns on the same wave, the board was theirs to keep.

Many tried, many failed.

My friend Kohl’s son caught wind of this challenge and was determined to win the board. So at the Father’s Day Early & Often, Clive came prepared.

He caught a bunch of waves on it, and completed the two-turns to the beach challenge. Congrats Clive, well deserved! The 3’10” officially has a new home.
