One year of Ra Mission Viejo is in the books! And if there’s one thing this practice teaches us, it’s that there’s always somewhere new to go. A deeper breath. A stronger posture. A new edge. A little more awareness. A version of ourselves we haven’t met yet.

Today we honor and celebrate the history and culture of our Native American Communities. Every day is an opportunity to learn about the Indigenous lands we occupy, support Native-owned businesses, and amplify Indigenous voices.⁠ 🪶

The land upon which you stand when inside any Ra Yoga studio, has been known as Awing-na (or Ahwiinga) since the 9 th or 10 th century B.C.E. It has been cared for by the First Nations of the Tongva and Acjachemen. These coastal hunter-gatherer tribes, populated a territory covering almost 4,000 miles including both of the offshore islands now known as Santa Catalina and San Clemente, Orange County, and most of modern-day Los Angeles County. We honor and protect the history of these communities by educating ourselves and acknowledging our part in their displacement.
