What happens when a baby falls into the pool head-first?
This 9-month-old has been training since about 4½ months old, and in this lesson we are practicing an actual fall scenario.
A baby who can crawl can reach the edge of a pool and fall in head-first. That body position can take them deeper underwater before they can resurface.
She is being taught to:
• Hold her breath
• Resurface
• Regain control of her body
• Roll to her back when needed
• Establish and maintain a stable float
• Wait for help
These are skills that can matter in a real emergency.
Choose an infant swim program that teaches skills appropriate for real-world situations, not just a comfortable back float in a controlled setting.
⚠️ DO NOT RECREATE THIS. This exercise is performed by a trained instructor in a controlled environment. Never intentionally put an infant into a pool to test their skills. Always use layers of protection: constant, close supervision, proper barriers, water safety education, and CPR knowledge.
Swimming skills are one layer of drowning prevention. They are not a substitute for supervision.
