What a way to close the book.
This past weekend, both our 10U and 12U SJV Shock teams traveled to Goshen for the Summer Send Off Tournament, and they certainly lived up to the tournament's name.
Our 12U squad put together an incredible weekend, battling through a talented field. After suffering an early tournament setback, they refused to back down, putting together an impressive run all the way back to the championship game before finishing as tournament runner-up. Their grit, determination, and resilience were on full display, and they represented the Shock with pride every step of the way.
The 10U team put an exclamation point on an unforgettable season, capturing the tournament championship in dominant fashion. The girls rolled to a perfect 6-0 record on the weekend, overwhelming opponents with outstanding pitching, timely hitting, and exceptional defense. By the time the final out was recorded, they had outscored their opponents by an astounding 50 runs, proving once again why they have been one of the premier teams in the region.
While this tournament marked the Summer Send Off, it also marked the final weekend of competition for the SJV Shock program.
As many know, our 10U team will begin an exciting new chapter as Turnin 2 11U Puzneak, joining a nationally recognized organization that will continue to help our athletes pursue their dreams at the next level.
Although this was the final game played under the red, white, and blue of SJV Shock, the legacy of this program will endure. What started as an idea became a family. We built more than softball players—we built confident young athletes, lifelong friendships, and a culture centered around hard work, accountability, and having fun competing together.
Over the last two years, we've watched these girls grow tremendously—not just as softball players, but as teammates, leaders, and young women. Through countless practices, lessons learned, victories celebrated, and adversity overcome, they developed skills and confidence that will serve them long after the final pitch. Our coaches poured countless hours into teaching the game the right way, creating an environment where every player could develop, compete, and believe in themselves. Their dedication has helped shape not only successful teams, but even better people.
When the trophies are packed away and the uniforms are put in the closet, that won't be what we remember most. We'll remember the hotel stays, the dance parties, the laughs in the dugout, the postgame celebrations, and the friendships that were formed along the way. Those friendships are the true legacy of SJV Shock, and we have no doubt they'll last a lifetime.
The impact of SJV Shock extends far beyond wins and championships. We truly believe this program has left an indelible mark on youth softball in St. Joseph County and throughout Southwest Michigan, raising the standard while creating opportunities for so many young athletes.
To every player, parent, coach, sponsor, volunteer, and fan who believed in our vision from the very beginning—thank you. You helped build something incredibly special, and no one can ever take that away.
Once Shock, always Shock.
