Meet Kalaivani!! Kalaivanni is a familiar face in the 5:45 power classes, a CFY 200 Hour YTT graduate, taught a special "Pink Moon Flow" in the Spring, and began subbing for CFY last month...and NOW she's ready to share the practice of Deep Stretch, every Wednesday at 7:00 PM! We're excited to have her share her authentic version of yoga!
Here's her bio:
For Kalaivani, yoga is more than movement, it’s a practice of reconnecting with the body, calming the mind, and finding balance through breath. Born and raised in India, her childhood exposure to yoga and its traditions laid the foundation for a lifelong journey that she fully embraced as an adult. Passionate about Power Yoga and Vinyasa, she creates classes that combine strength, mindful movement, and presence, offering a supportive space where students can build confidence, challenge themselves, and leave feeling grounded, energized, and renewed.
When she’s not on the mat, Kalaivani enjoys spending quality time with her family, especially her two teenage children, and loves bringing everyone together over home-cooked, flavorful spicy meals.
You can sign up NOW for Kalaiivani's first regular class on the schedule! Link in bio to book classes or go to www.charlottefamilyyoga.com!

Hello CFY friends! It’s that time of year again. We are taking our semi-annual hiatus, and the studio will be closed from July 5th through July 11th. ☀️
While our physical doors are briefly closed, the practice doesn't stop! We hope you’ll use this week to rest, recharge, and nourish your soul off the mat.
Here are a few ways to keep your yoga vibe alive while we're away:
✨ Family First: Soak up extra, uninterrupted quality time with your loved ones.
✨ Community Connection: Reach out and set up that yogi friend date you’ve been meaning to plan.
✨ Home Sanctuary: Unroll your mat in your favorite room and carefully hone your personal practice.
What we’re up to behind the scenes:
We won’t just be lounging in Savasana! We are rolling up our sleeves to give the studio a sparkling deep clean, craft inspiring new sequences, and get everything beautifully prepared for the rest of the summer months. 🧹✨
We will miss your energy in the studio, but we can’t wait to welcome you back refreshed, renewed, and ready to flow!!
See you back on the mat on July 12th!

✨✨Meet Mounika!✨✨
You’ve most likely seen Mounika on her mat in all Hot Power classes and sometimes helping out at the Front Desk - and now we see her thriving on Thursday nights at 7:00 teaching Long, Slow Deep!
Here’s a quick peek at her bio - schedule time with yourself to meet Mounika on the mat this week!
Mounika (She/Her) is a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training graduate, having completed her certification in December 2025 with Charlotte Family Yoga. She has been a part of the community for the past 3 years and lives just beside the studio, making it a central and meaningful part of her daily life.
As a student, she immersed herself deeply in the practice, learning everything she could from the teachers and the community that inspired her journey. Now, she is excited to give back and share that same sense of connection, growth, and mindfulness with others through her teaching.
At 29, she brings a fresh and vibrant energy to her classes, with a deep love for yoga, travel, and nature!

💚🖤💛❤️ Happy Juneteenth, CFY! ❤️💚🖤💛
While the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in January 1863, it took two and a half years for that reality to reach the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers finally arrived to enforce the news: freedom had won.
Juneteenth marks that exact moment of delayed, yet hard-won liberation. It is often called America’s second Independence Day, reminding us that true freedom is a collective journey.
🧘🏾♂️ Why We Practice & Celebrate Today
In yoga, we often talk about liberation (Moksha)—breaking free from the things that bind, restrict, or oppress our minds and bodies. For generations, Black Americans have had to fight for the simple, fundamental right to breathe freely, to take up space, and to heal.
💚 We celebrate today because:
🖤 Healing is Resistance: Creating a safe, nurturing space for Black health and wellness in Charlotte is our way of continuing the legacy of our ancestors.
❤️ Joy is Essential: Juneteenth is a celebration of Black culture, creativity, and survival. True wellness includes celebrating how far we’ve come.
💛 Community is Our Foundation: Liberation is never an individual practice. We rise, breathe, and heal together as a family.
Today, we honor the roots, the rhythm, and the absolute resilience of those who came before us. We invite you to step onto your mat today with a spirit of gratitude for the freedom to breathe, move, and just be!
How are you honoring freedom and community today?

☀️☀️Summer Solstice & 108 Sun Salutations ☀️☀️
The solstice is a natural celestial turning point and we are looking forward to going through 108 repetitions of sun salutations as an intentional transition ritual—a way to welcome the warmth of summer while cultivating personal strength, resilience, and clarity!
And did you know?! In Vedic tradition, there are 108 Upanishads (sacred texts) and 108 pithas (sacred sites) across India. Traditional Mala prayer beads also feature exactly 108 beads to count mantras - intentional!
This is a virtual only practice, we’ll see you in the zoom room Sunday at 9:30 am!
