Meet Willie! 🚲❤️
Willie has been rocking with us since Day 1 of our new leadership, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have him as part of the Bikes for All People family.
Recently, Willie was using a tricycle with a wagon to help him get everyday resources from the church and the Free Store. Unfortunately, someone stole his tricycle, leaving him without an important way to get around.
But Willie didn’t let that stop him. He volunteered with us for 4 days, 3 hours a day, putting in the work and earning himself a free bicycle to help meet his everyday transportation needs. 🙌🏾
Willie is incredibly mechanically inclined, always willing to lend a hand, and has some of the funniest stories you’ll ever hear. 😂 He brings so much personality, knowledge, and good energy into the shop.
We’re proud to have you with us, Willie! Keep riding, keep wrenching, and keep those stories coming. 🚲💪🏾
📍 We’re open today from 12 PM–4 PM!
We’re closing early today, so stop by and see us before 4. We hope to see you soon! 🚲

What a JAM PACKED week at Bikes for All People! 🚲💜
We’ve had so many great moments lately, and we want to take a second to celebrate them!
First, meeting Score Milburn and having him introduce himself and bring donations to the shop has been incredibly helpful. We appreciate you showing love and supporting what we do!
Our guy Eric also deserves a huge shoutout! Eric originally works with the church and came into the shop to complete our Wheels of Opportunity program. He volunteered for 4 days, 3 hours a day, in exchange for a free bike. He was blessed with a bike to help him stay active and get around for his daily exercise. That’s what this program is all about: creating access to transportation, recreation, and opportunity. 🚲
Our Thursday Night Rides have also been growing these last few weeks, and we’ve been having a BLAST! If you haven’t joined us yet, come check it out! Everyone is welcome. 🚴🏽♀️🚴🏽♂️
Big THANK YOU to our board member Lauren for inviting us to the B&N event, where we had the opportunity to talk about barriers to transportation access and connect with tons of folks from Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Grove City, Dublin, and many other communities. It was an amazing networking opportunity and we’re excited about the connections we made!
And don’t forget, TONIGHT is Volunteer Night! 🔧

🎬🚲 A Simple Machine × BIKES FOR ALL PEOPLE
We’re excited to collaborate with independent filmmaker Mark Alan Hoffman and the team behind the new independent feature film A SIMPLE MACHINE for a special night celebrating independent film, bikes, and community!
📅 SEPTEMBER 12TH — SAVE THE DATE!
A Simple Machine is a thoughtful coming-of-age film following Nick Allander, a recent college graduate drowning in debt who decides to radically simplify his life. He leaves his career, sells his possessions, fixes up an old ten-speed with Goodwill parts, and sets out to find a new direction.
🚲 BIKES FOR ALL PEOPLE RIDE TO THE MOVIE
On September 12th, we’ll be hosting a group ride from Bikes for All People to Gateway Film Center for the screening!
🚲 Meet at Bikes for All People: 5:00 PM
🚲 Ride departs: 6:00 PM
We’ll have a safe route with lead and sweep riders to help keep everyone together and make the ride enjoyable for all.
💰 HELP US BUILD OUR THIRD SPACE!
We’re also using this event as a fundraiser to raise $1,500 to build a fence in our backyard and create a third space for our community.
Our goal is to build the space ourselves and use it to:
• Host community events
• Work on bikes outside when weather permits
• Gather and connect with our neighbors
• Create more opportunities for the community to enjoy the shop
Every donation helps us get closer to making this happen!
🎟️ REGISTER + GET YOUR TICKETS
If you’d like to support our fundraiser, please register through our Eventbrite — link in bio in our linktree check that out. Registering also helps us plan for how many people will be joining the ride and attending the event.
And if you want to get your movie tickets early, the link is in our bio! Tickets are expected to sell out fast, so don’t wait!
Come ride with us. Come support an independent filmmaker. Come watch a great movie. And help us build something for our community. 🚲🎬❤️

🚲 Bikes for All People x Stonewall Columbus 🤝
We’re proud to partner with Stonewall Columbus through their Out to Work Program, which helps participants become ServSafe certified, build workforce skills, and receive support with job placement.
This year, Stonewall welcomed 9 participants into the program and one of those participants is our guy, Sampson. ❤️
About three months ago, Sampson came into Bikes for All People and volunteered 4 days, 3 hours each day through our Wheels of Opportunity program. He earned a bike, but he didn’t stop there.
Sampson kept coming back to the shop, volunteering his time, learning new skills, helping out, and becoming part of our community. As time went on, our Executive Director, West, saw something special in Sampson and recommended him for Stonewall’s Out to Work Program.
Then something really special happened…
Sampson got his first paycheck. 💰
And what did he do? He went out and bought himself a new bike and he even came back and supported Bikes for All People. 🚲❤️
That’s what community looks like. Someone comes through our doors looking for an opportunity, learns, grows, gets connected to a job, earns their first paycheck, buys a bike, and then turns around and gives back to the same community that helped them along the way.
And here’s the part Sampson doesn’t know yet…
WE’RE GOING TO BE AT HIS GRADUATION THIS MONTH! 🎓🚲
We couldn’t be more proud of him and all the work he’s put in.
This is why we believe bikes are about so much more than transportation. A bike can be the beginning of a much bigger journey.

What a killer week at Bikes for All People!
This week was full of bikes coming in for service, new faces walking through our doors, and strangers becoming friends. We watched people gain confidence by learning how to work on their own bikes, celebrated participants receiving free bicycles through our programs, and created memories that will last well beyond a day in the shop. That’s what Bikes for All People is all about—building community, empowering people, and making cycling accessible for everyone.
A huge thank you to the Goodwill Foundation for joining us this week to learn bicycle maintenance and the ABC Quick Check. We appreciate your partnership and your commitment to helping build a stronger, safer cycling community.
Tonight is Volunteer Night from 6:30–8:30 PM! Whether you’re an experienced mechanic or just curious to learn, we’d love to have you stop by. Come learn a few new skills, meet some amazing people, and be part of something bigger.

Congratulations to our newest Wheels of Opportunity graduates, Smith and Giffin!
These two came through the program together, dedicated their time, completed all four volunteer days (3 hours each day), and have already gone on to pursue even greater opportunities. They’ve been a tremendous help to our shop and our community, and we’re incredibly proud of everything they’ve accomplished.
Through the Wheels of Opportunity program, participants volunteer for 4 days (3 hours each day) and receive the resources they need to ride safely, including:
* A bicycle
* A helmet
* A lock
* A light set
Know someone who could benefit from this program? Have them reach out to us to learn how to get started!

Community is what makes this place special, and Elshad is a big part of that.
If you’ve spent any time at the shop, you’ve probably met Elshad. He’s always volunteering, helping people learn their way around the shop, sharing what he knows, making everyone laugh, and bringing a smile to the room. His positive energy brightens our days, and his dedication comes from one simple belief. He wants to see our neighborhood thrive.
Recently, Elshad was involved in an accident with a car, and his trusty old Cannondale Adventure took quite a beating. After all the time he’s given back through volunteering, we were excited to help him get rolling again. Through our volunteer program, he was able to pick up this Lotus bicycle and accessories for 50% off.
This is what community looks like. Neighbors helping neighbors, giving back, and making sure everyone has the opportunity to keep riding.
🚲 Stop by tonight for Volunteer Night!

Our Thursday Night Rides just keep growing! 🚲💜 Every week we see new faces alongside familiar members of our community, and we couldn’t be more excited.
This is an all-inclusive, family-friendly ride where everyone is welcome. Bring the kids, invite a friend, and come enjoy the sunshine with us! Anyone can lead a ride as long as you have a route to share. Before we roll out, we always do a quick safety check to make sure every bike is ready to ride so we can all enjoy a safe and fun evening together.
We usually cruise about 6–7 miles 😛, but sometimes we’ll keep it a little shorter to make sure everyone can join in comfortably.
🔧 Today is Open Shop! If you’ve ever had a question about your bike or wanted to learn how to fix it yourself, today is the perfect opportunity. We’ll teach you how to work on your own bike and help you build the confidence to keep riding.

Last Friday, our Executive Director, West Kyle, and Board President, Nichelle Harris, had the opportunity to visit Lincoln Elementary and provide free bicycle safety education to an amazing group of children at their summer camp! 🚲💚
We covered helmet fitting, the ABC Quick Check, how to tell if a bike is safe to ride, hand signals, and even introduced the kids to bicycle infrastructure like sharrows and other important road signs using a real bicycle and visual diagrams. Their engagement and excitement made the experience incredibly rewarding!
A huge thank you to Darlene, the Youth Development Director, for inviting us to be part of the summer camp. Opportunities like these remind us why we do this work. We’re committed to making cycling safer and more accessible while investing in our neighbors on the South Side.
If you’d like us to come to your school, email us and we’ll get you booked on the calendar. There are tons of opportunities for education and safety lessons!
If you’d like to support what we do, come volunteer with us or consider making a donation to help us continue providing free bicycle education and affordable transportation to our community.

🚲 A huge milestone for Bikes for All People!
Since opening our doors in 2014, we’ve never offered a full drop off bicycle service where you could leave your bike with us for a professional tune up.
With our shop under new leadership, this is officially the first year we’ve offered service, and in less than a year we’ve already completed 110+ service packages! 🎉
To everyone who has trusted us with your bike, thank you. Every tune up helps support the programs we offer, keeps cycling accessible in our community, and yes… even helps keep the lights on. 😂❤️
We also want to give a huge shout out to our incredible staff for treating every bike like it’s their own and making sure each bicycle gets the love and care it deserves. Your hard work and dedication are what make this possible.
If your bike needs some love, bring it by! No appointment needed.
