Great conversations at COYSC’s quarterly networking meeting!

Renee Orozco of Nationwide Children’s Hospital led a discussion on weight-based bias in youth sports. We also welcomed new members, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Ohio and i9 Sports! The group kicked off work to map youth sports across Central Ohio and create a resource to help families find local opportunities.

Creating more access to our game ⚽️🖤💛

The Crew, Scotts Lawn Care, The ScottsMiracle-Gro Foundation, Every Kid Sports and Columbus Recreation and Parks Department teamed up to create a program designed to introduce more girls ages 4–7 to soccer while removing financial barriers to participation. The Grow Her Game initiative will launch girls-only soccer leagues at three community centers, provide equipment, and cover participation costs for up to 400 girls in under-resourced communities.

Great coaches don't just happen—they're developed!

This past week, the Central Ohio Youth Sports Collaborative brought together youth sport organizations from across the region to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore new strategies for coach education.

A huge thank you to Girls on the Run of Central Ohio, OSULifesports, and the Government Resource Center for sharing tools, resources, and real-world insights that can help organizations better support and develop their coaches.
