Often, you will hear folks say that the Conjugate Method only applies to geared powerlifting. These individuals fail to understand the roots of the system, and its use in the Soviet Union.
The Conjugate Method was not only used for strength sports, but a multitude of conventional sports as well.
The only thing that limits the Conjugate Method is the understanding of the methods possessed by the coach or athlete utilizing the methods.
In this training clip, Lou hits a 640lb SSB box squat PR at 57 years old.
Over his career, Lou dealt with injuries that would cause most to quit. However, through the use of the Conjugate Method and extreme willpower, Lou was able to remain active in the sport into his 60’s, being one of only four men to attain an elite total in five weight classes.
Lou’s accomplishments and longevity in the sport of powerlifting are a testament to his ability to utilize the Conjugate Training System no matter the circumstances.
