Northside Venom

After suffering an L against the Dublin Green Sox and their outstanding ace on Wednesday, the Venom hosted the Sox in a return trip on Thursday with everything on the line. After a 7-inning slugfest against a very tough team, we came out on top in dramatic fashion to earn the W and another trip to the jewelry store to cap off our COYBL season.

Offensive MVP- Brayden Calloway led the way on offense, going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored, while also stealing 3 crucial bases on an outstanding catcher.

Defensive MVP- Donovan Greggor, a future Dublin Coffman Shamrock playing against his hometown team, called game with the tying run at the plate in the last inning. When you make a diving catch on a liner at 2B and turn the double play to end the contest, you get the honors.

The Men of Venom welcomed the Columbus Knights into the friendly confines of Hoff Woods Park and held them to only 2 hits in 22 at-bats in a suffocating victory under the lights.

Offensive MVP- Taran Meador has been on a tear since returning from injury. He reached base in all 4 at bats, stole 2 bases, drove in 4 runs and scored twice himself to lead the charge.

Defensive MVP- With the score sitting at 7-6 after 4 innings, Lennon Sharps put the team on his back and closed the game. In two perfect innings of work, he faced the minimum, striking out 5 of the 6 hitters he saw to earn the save.

Down a few key leaders, including our lead-off man and also our hottest-hitting captain, the Venom traveled north to take on the Delaware Lightning on Monday. After a classic pitchers’ duel, we traveled home with a gritty W over a talented and well-coached team, having faced their crafty ace, who delivered 6 innings of solid work. But it was our pitchers who set the tone, allowing only 3 runs (including 2 we balked in ourselves) and 6 hits. The bats were on fire, starting the first four innings with extra base hits and driving in 4 RBI to their 1. The defense was also stout, committing no errors and walking the game off with an impressive 1-3 double play in a 5-pitch 7th inning. Hail to the Venom!

Offensive MVP- Brady Cochran did it all at the plate against his hometown team. He accounted for 3 of the team’s 4 runs with two clutch singles to drive in a pair and then crossed the plate as the winning run himself with some opportunistic baserunning in the final frame.

Defensive MVP- Hudson Ross was an iron man at catcher, going all 7 innings and calling an incredible game, guiding the Venom pitchers to 8 strikeouts, ultimately sitting down 7 of the opponent’s 10 hitters.

After getting walked off in a 5-run inning division L on Tuesday, the boys bounced back and put up a dominant performance against Lancaster Baseball Club to move to 6-1 in the division, holding on to first place by a thread with 3 games to go. In one of the cleanest defensive performances of the season at the right time, it was Venom 9, LBC 1.

Offensive MVP- Titus Fix was 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles, driving in the game’s deciding run.

Defensive MVP- Brady Cochran put on a virtuoso performance at pitcher, going (basically) all the way, ending 9 of 24 at-bats (across 8 different hitters) with a K, allowing just 1 earned run, and delivering an amazing performance with the season on the line.

For the second time in a week, the Venom welcomed a team of athletes from the Worthington Nationals program and walked away the victors, 11-1. In those two games, 6 Venom pitchers combined for some absurd stats- 9 innings, 3 hits, 0 earned runs, .088 BAA, and two wins.

Offensive MVP- Hudson Ross has been a clutch hitter all year, and added a bases-loaded, two-out single to right field to drive in a pair and put the game out of reach.

Defensive MVP-Brady Cochran started the game and needed only 19 pitches to go two perfect innings, striking out 4 and accounting for 5 of the 6 outs himself.

With tournament season in the rearview mirror, the squad returns its focus to division play and finishing the season strong in rivalry games. We kicked off the final third of the 2026 season with a division game against the Worthington Nationals, winning in dominating fashion, 19-4, behind an onslaught of hits and pitchers who combined to throw a one-hitter.

Offensive MVP- Have a day, Will Wiselogel! Recently moving to the three spot, Will has dominated and stole the show with 5 RBI and 4 total bases.

Defensive MVP- Dylan Sockrider did it all on defense, starting the game on the bump and earning the win, while also making a diving stop at shortstop to preserve the one-hitter in the third.
