Now that most of the team is home (because we are crazy and drive 11 hours after our game), we wanted to give a huge shout-out to Virginia Mixed Roller Derby for being an awesome team and so much fun on the track. We love sharing high fives and hugs mid-game because fun is what this sport is all about. We are so happy to be a part of your MRDA journey.

Thank you to Penn Jersey Roller Derby for hosting this amazing tournament and to Detroit for being such hard-hitting competitors as you were.

Thank you to the amazing officals and the emotional support crocheted animals provided (looking at you PBT with the opossum) for keeping us safe and reigned in all weekend and for laughing at our bad jokes when we threw them out; we know there were way too many. 🤣

This weekend was rough, and we may be dying a little bit, but we had so much fun and were glad to spread the pickle love around after each and every game.

The Balls want to acknowledge another amazing honor coming out of MRDA Western Hemisphere Cup!
Our very own Jackson was named one of the tournament’s MVP BLOCKERS! ⭐️
Jackson transferred to CWB at the end of last year, but it didn’t take long for him to become a Ball in every possible way. 🧡💣
He is an absolute pleasure on the track, bringing years of derby experience, knowledge, skill, and strategy to every practice & game. Whether he’s delivering a hit, locking down a jammer, or sharing what he knows with us, Jackson makes the people around him better. His fellow blockers have all expressed a love for playing with him.
What we love most is everything he brings beyond the track. In a relatively short time, he’s become an important part of this team, this family, & this wonderfully weird collective of humans we call the Balls.
We are incredibly proud to call Jackson our teammate & our friend. 🧡

🏆💥 MVP JAMMER: BUG! 💥🏆

We’re coming home from the MRDA Western Hemisphere Cup with a whole lot to be proud of, and we have to give a HUGE shoutout to our very own Bug #6, who was named MVP JAMMER for the entire tournament! ⭐️
Bug left absolutely everything on the track this weekend. Speed, footwork, determination, smart plays, and that relentless drive to keep pushing through even the toughest walls. Watching him compete against some of the best skaters in the MRDA and earn this recognition was pretty damn special.
We’ve watched Bug grow up in roller derby, put in countless hours of work, compete at the highest levels of junior derby, and now continue making his mark with the Carolina Wrecking Balls. Seeing the rest of the derby community recognize what we already know about this kid makes us incredibly proud. 🥹💙
And this wasn’t an MVP from one game. This was for his performance across the entire Western Hemisphere Cup. 🔥
Congratulations, Bug. You earned every bit of it.

Mark your calendars for February 26–28, 2027 as we take over Columbia, SC for a weekend of hard hits, fierce competition, and just the right amount of dumpster-diving chaos. It's the Year of the Raccoon, so gather your trash pandas and get ready to rumble!
