Lions tennis falls to a good Tolton squad 8-1 on Thursday night. Lily Thies is your lone match winner remaining undefeated in singles on the year. The Lions are back in action Saturday at the Osage Tournament.

Lions Middle School Cross Country survives a very challenging warm day to run well at the Gentry Invitational at Bethel Park. Hadley Thurwanger-Hunt finished 20th for the girls while Liam Murphy finished 12th in the boys race . Overall the boys finished 5th as a team. Here are the rest of the meet results.

Lions Middle School Volleyball hosted St. Peter & Paul on Wednesday night and came away with a split. In the ‘B’ team match the Lions almost stole set 2 but fell 8-25, 23-25. In the ‘A’ team match the Lions came away with a 3 set win 25-23, 17-25, 15-6. The Lions return to action again Thursday at Oakland Middle School with the B team contest starting at 6p followed by the ‘A’ match.

Girls golf traveled to Heritage Hills golf course in Moberly for the Westran Invitational on Tuesday.

CIS placed 14th out of 17 teams.

Gracie Anderson finished 30th with a score of 112

Lydia Gruender finished 45th with a score of 117

Mya Frank finished 65th with a score of 127

Kylee Hess finished 82nd with a score of 137

Payton Hess finished 85th with a score of 139

Next up for the golf team is a trip to Arthur Hills golf course in Mexico for a dual match at 4p on Thursday.

Tonight’s Upper School volleyball match at Chamois has been cancelled due to illness and injury in the Chamois volleyball program.

It was a loud, long evening but worth it as Lions volleyball gutted out a big win at CFS on Tuesday night with a 25-20, 16-25, 25-16, 25-22 victory. It was an important win on the road against a district opponent. In JV action the Lions split 2 sets against CFS 25-23, 17-25. CIS moves to 4-1 on the year and returns to action Wednesday night at Chamois starting at 6pm.

The CIS Swim Team headed to Hannibal Monday night to compete against 5 area high schools. CIS came out tied for 2nd place in overall points, and had a number of highlights in the water. The team’s medley relay fought for a tightly contested silver, and swam a new PR. Both sophomore Ben and freshman Eli got new PRs in both of their individual events, and junior Jack swam a state consideration time in his 100 backstroke, adding to his improved state time in the 100 butterfly. The team came away with a couple gold medals swum by Ben (100 freestyle) and Kane (50 freestyle), and Liam helped the 200 freestyle relay secure a silver. The team heads to MMA next Tuesday, and then to Mizzou next Friday and Saturday for the state’s largest boys’ swim meet.

Lions tennis rolls into Carrollton and rolls out with an 8-1 win. Ziva Sarnevitz-Lerner, Syrena Sadler, Emma Orford, Lily Thies, and Maddie Petris were all singles winners. Winners in doubles were the teams of Sadler/Audrey Hesemann, Thies/Orford, and Petris/Sarnevitz-Lerner. The Lions will be back in action on Thursday against Tolton at Cosmo Park starting at 4:30.

Lions Tennis wraps up a busy week with a 2nd place team finish at the Boonville Pirate Open on Saturday. Lily Thies and Syrena Sadler win first place in doubles while Maddie Petris takes second place in singles. The Lions are right back in action with a long trip to Carrollton on Monday starting at 4:30pm.
