North Cheyenne Cañon - a City of Colorado Springs Park

North Cheyenne Cañon Park is a Regional Park of the City of Colorado Springs park system. The park was created in 1885 and has been a heavenly retreat for locals and tourists alike since then. The park has over 1,000 acres full of trails and scenic views for everyone to enjoy. The Helen Hunt Falls Visitor Center is closed for the remainder of 2022, it will reopen Summer of 2023. NO FISHING in North or South Cheyenne Creek within North Cheyenne Canon Park!
There is a rumor going around that it is ok to fish in North Cheyenne Canon Park. Don't believe it!! It is Not ok to fish in the Park.
Per Ord. 89-97; Ord. 01-42; Ord. 18-24: It is unlawful for any person to fish in any of the waters of the parks except in those areas designated by the Manager. North and South Cheyenne Creeks are not designated for fishing within North Cheyenne Canon Park.
Prospect Lake and Quail Lake are designated areas for fishing as long as you possess a current fishing license issued by the State Division of Parks and Wildlife and are in those areas designated by the Manager. Limits are determined by the Colorado State Division of Parks and Wildlife. Know the limits!!
Practice Leave No Trace and dispose of fishing line, lures, trash, etc. appropriately. That means take out what you bring in to the parks!

Pack it in. Pack it out! (that includes your trash and doggie dodo.)

Well meaning, but still graffiti!
Please No Painted Rocks in Natural Areas:
Considered Graffiti/Litter: National parks, state parks, some city parks and wilderness trails view any painted stone or marking as vandalism.
Environmental Harm: Paint can leak chemicals into soil and water, and moving rocks harms small animal habitats.
Leave No Trace: Rangers remove painted rocks from trails because they ruin the natural views.
Please practice Leave No Trace!

Park access via the ColumbineTrail and Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center are OPEN!
The Road to Helen Hunt Falls is CLOSED until it is safely cleared of rock debris. Gold Camp Road is also CLOSED.
The Columbine Trail and all connecting trails can be accessed from Starsmore Visitor Center.
