Hello and Happy Motivation Monday!
There’s this book called Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman (a Nobel Prize-winning researcher), who spent his career studying how we make decisions. He explains that all of us have two thinking systems constantly at work: System 1, which is fast, emotional, automatic, and loves to fill in the blanks, and System 2, which is slower, more intentional, and willing to question those first conclusions. Our brains naturally rely on mental shortcuts to conserve energy. The problem is that those shortcuts can convince us our first interpretation is the truth when it's really just one possible explanation. We've all done it: someone doesn't text back, we assume they're upset with us, or we receive feedback and immediately interpret it as rejection. Kahneman reminds us that the event itself hasn't changed, only the story our mind created about it, and that's where slowing down becomes so powerful. The more we practice engaging that slower, more curious System 2, the more freedom we have to respond with intention instead of simply reacting from habit. This week, take a few minutes to intentionally "map" which system is activating, and if that's the way you want it! I'm in the same boat. Love, Tish❤️

Hello and Happy Motivation Monday! Lately, I’ve noticed how often I move through my days believing I need to anticipate everything, because if I stay one step ahead it will keep things from going wrong. But more often than not, it turns into a hyper-awareness that keeps me in a constant state of control, where even neutral moments feel like something I have to manage. I’ve been sitting with what it might look like to loosen that grip, and to trust that doing so isn’t the same as being careless (because it’s NOT lol). There’s also a lot to be said for living inside my life, not just being ahead of it. And when I do that it reveals what was already stable by itself, and the things that don’t fit as well anymore. It comes down to believing that I am capable. And you are, too, whether or not it feels like it. This week, notice one moment where you feel the urge to mentally “get ahead”. Instead, let the moment unfold without interference. Pay attention to what holds, what continues, what doesn’t fall apart. Love always, Tish ❤️
