True skill values substance over emptiness, authenticity over pretension.

Some chase reputation, speaking boastfully, yet their skill is not real.

Some seek flowery tricks without basic training. They never become capable.

Taiji method must be practiced truly and honestly to reveal true skill

Taiji skill must be developed step by step. Rushing leads to error.

One step, one level moving from shallow to deep, laying firm foundations. Only then can one accumulate depth and become capable.

Those who crave quick results easily go astray or get injured, losing the true path.

There are no shortcuts in deep skill. Only accumulation and perseverance.

The subtlety of method lies in internal observation.

To observe within means to observe the movement of intent, the flow of qi, and the gathering or dispersing of spirit.

One must frequently reflect on faults in practice, and correct deviations. With time, skill deepens, and principles become clear.

Skill is realized through the mind; the method refines naturally.

True Taiji skill is valued in being soundless and shapeless.

Outwardly, nothing may appear; inwardly, one is full. Externally, one seems empty; internally, energy flows like a tide.

Movements are light and agile, intent arrives and energy follows. One shows no sign, yet can control the opponent.

This is called “hiding the needle within cotton” and “firmness within softness.”

Taiji skill lies not only in posture and energy, but especially in spirit expression.

The eyes are the windows of spirit. If they look without seeing, the spirit is
unfocused.

During practice, the eyes turn with the intent, spirit concentrates, qi gathers.

Eyes do not wander, spirit does not scatter, and intent and energy return to the
center.

Taiji skill begins with adjusting posture, advances through qi regulation, and completes in spirit refinement.

When the form is correct, qi flows; when qi flows, intent is clear; when intent is clear, spirit shines.

When spirit is calm, intent is focused; when intent is focused, qi is unified.

The outer form is nourished by internal energy; internal energy is activated by external form.

When internal and external are one, movement and stillness generate each other, this is true Taiji skill.

Relaxation is the root of Taiji method.

Relaxation brings sensitivity; sensitivity brings circulation; circulation brings clarity.

Without relaxation, one cannot sense energy; without sensing, one cannot neutralize.

Relaxation is not slackness, it is segmental release with energy in every joint.
