Tactical Training for professional uniform services, and individuals wishing to join uniform service

05/27/2026

We went from “fight to win” to “fight to not get sued.”

Guess which one gets cops hurt.

Modern defensive tactics training has become so obsessed with liability, policy, and looking good on bodycam that a lot of officers are being taught to hesitate instead of dominate.

They’re drilled on how to stay “reasonable” instead of how to end the threat quickly and decisively. They’re taught to survive the encounter instead of winning it.

Here’s the problem: Real fights don’t care about your department’s use of force policy or how it will play in court six months from now. When someone is trying to take your gun, smash your head into the pavement, or stab you, hesitation gets you hurt — or worse.

The old school mindset was simple: Train cops to win. Train them to be dangerous when they need to be. Train them like their life depends on it, because it does.

We’ve swung so far in the other direction that a lot of rookies are coming out of the academy more worried about the aftermath than surviving the moment.

You can’t de-escalate every situation.

You can’t talk your way out of every fight.

And you sure as hell can’t afford to second-guess yourself when the hands start flying.

We need to bring back training that actually prepares cops to win violent encounters — not just survive them long enough to write a report.

On this day 23 years ago, 246 people went to sleep for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep for work tomorrow. 25 flight attendants packed their bags for their early reports. 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 paramedics went to sleep for their morning shifts. None of them got to see past 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 11th 2001. Life can change so drastically in one single moment. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today, and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never ever take one second for granted. Remember and honor all these brave Heroes on 9/11... Never forget. ♥️🇺🇸
