πΈ MENOPAUSE: NOBODY REALLY PREPARES US FOR THIS PART!
I will say thisβit's nice to have a circle of healthcare providers you can talk to, especially when they're around the same age and experiencing some of the same changes. π
I'm postmenopausal now, and naturally, I looked at my labs. My estrogen is low, which isn't surprising after menopause.
But my question wasn't simply:
"Is my estrogen low?"
My question was:
"What does that mean for my body NOW?"
Weight and body composition are big conversations for women during menopause. Research shows that the menopause transition can be associated with more abdominal and visceral fat and less lean muscle.
So ladies, when you say, "My body doesn't respond the way it used to," there really are physiological changes happening.
But I'm not accepting, "You're just getting older," as the entire conversation.
I want to understand this version of my body.
What does it need?
What should I change?
What should I monitor?
And what can I do to remain healthy, strong and active?
πΈ That's the menopause conversation I want us to start having.

π₯π§ LET'S TALK ABOUT NUTRITION AFTER SURGERY.
When we talk about recovery at Pinpoint Chiropractic & Wellness, we're not only thinking about joints and muscles.
Your body also needs adequate fluids, calories, protein and nutrients while tissues are healing.
That's why nutrition and hydration can become part of our conversation with patients preparing for or recovering from surgery.
We may provide nutritional recovery packs, juices and other supportive options designed to help patients focus on hydration and adequate nutrition during recovery.
But there's something important we want patients to understand:
These aren't treatments for anesthesia, and they don't replace your surgeon's postoperative instructions.
They're supportive nutrition.
We want patients thinking about the WHOLE recovery picture:
π₯ Am I eating enough?
π§ Am I staying appropriately hydrated?
πͺπ½ Am I getting enough protein and nutrients to support normal tissue repair?
πΆπ½ Am I following my movement restrictions?
π Do I understand my medications and discharge instructions?
Recovery involves more than one thing.
Your body is doing a tremendous amount of work after surgery. Let's support it appropriately.

β€οΈβπ©Ή SURGERY IS OVER. NOW WHAT?
You had the procedure.
You've been discharged.
You've got your instructions.
But now you're home thinking:
"Okayβ¦what am I actually supposed to do?"
This is another area where Pinpoint Chiropractic & Wellness can help.
Once your surgeon has cleared you for appropriate activity and care, we can become another part of your recovery team.
Depending on your procedure and individual needs, that may include:
πͺπ½ Therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises πΆπ½ Mobility and movement work ππ½ Appropriate soft-tissue work π₯ Nutritional support π§ Hydration strategies π Patient education and advocacy
And sometimes you simply need someone to help you figure out what questions you should take back to your surgeon or medical team.
Recovery isn't necessarily finished because you've been discharged from the hospital.
We're interested in helping you get back to living.
Always follow your surgeon's restrictions and postoperative instructions.

πΏ I'M BECOMING MY OWN LITTLE MENOPAUSE EXPERIMENT OF ONE. π
I've been studying herbs and nutrients used during menopause, including hops, d**g quai, boron and zinc.
And researching them has reminded me of something important:
Traditional use and scientific evidence aren't always the same thing.
Hops contain 8-prenylnaringenin, a compound with phytoestrogenic activity, and small clinical studies have investigated standardized hops extracts for menopausal symptoms.
Boron is another interesting one. A very small study in postmenopausal women found that supplemental boron affected mineral metabolism and measured estrogen and testosterone levels.
But here's the important part:
Interesting research doesn't automatically equal proven treatment.
D**g quai is a perfect example. It's traditionally associated with women's health, but one randomized controlled trial found that d**g quai alone wasn't significantly better than placebo for the menopausal symptoms studied.
So I'm learning, experimenting carefully and talking with my healthcare providers.
And I'm going to keep sharing what I learn.
πΏ Because women's health deserves more than, "Take this because somebody on social media said it works."

π― This Could Be Your Shortcut to Reaching Your Goals
Weight loss is a big subject, and the truth is there is no one-size-fits-all solution.
We hear it all the time:
π₯ Calories in, calories out. π Track your macros. π₯© Try this diet. π₯ Try that diet.
The reality is that sustainable weight loss requires a balanced, practical, and personalized approach.
One simple strategy we have seen help many people is changing the order in which you eat your food.
β
Vegetables first β
Proteins second β
Healthy fats and everything else last
Why?
This simple method may help support better blood sugar control, reduce cravings, increase satisfaction, and create a more stable foundation for your nutrition goals.
It's not a magic solution. It's not an overnight success. It's an effective enhancement to whatever healthy eating plan you're already following.
Whether you're looking for a structured plan, measurable results, supportive guidance, or a deeper understanding of how your body works, there are many paths to success.
Weight loss should be: βοΈ Organized and efficient βοΈ Fast-moving and goal-focused βοΈ Caring and supportive βοΈ Educational and evidence-informed
Your journey is unique, and your strategy should be too.
If you'd like to learn more about weight loss, nutrition, healthy habits, and your available options, schedule a consultation with Pinpoint Chiropractic and Wellness.
We would love to help you create a personalized plan and accomplish your health and weight goals.

β° Only Have One Minute?
Try this simple breathing exercise to help you feel more centered, focused, and refreshed during your workday.
β
Simple. Practical. Effective.
1οΈβ£ Take a deep breath in. 2οΈβ£ While holding that breath, take a second small breath in. 3οΈβ£ Hold for 30 seconds or longer if comfortable. 4οΈβ£ Slowly release the air, completely deflating the diaphragm.
That's it.
This quick technique can help you: β¨ Create balance and stability during a busy day. β¨ Improve focus and performance when demands are high. β¨ Cultivate calm and connection when stress begins to build. β¨ Increase awareness and clarity when your mind feels cluttered.
Sometimes the most powerful wellness tools don't require an appointment, equipment, or a significant investment of time.
Just one minute. One breath. One opportunity to reset.
Take a moment today to pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.
πΏ Move Well. Live Well. Be Well.
Note: If holding your breath causes dizziness, discomfort, or you have a cardiovascular or respiratory condition, shorten the hold or consult your healthcare provider before practicing breath-retention exercises.

πΆββοΈ Summer Activity Tips
Many of us jump back into activities we haven't done in monthsβhiking, gardening, biking, camping, swimming, and outdoor sports. While these activities are great for our health, remember that some of us aren't quite as young as we used to be!
Before You Play
β Stretch before and after activities
β Ease back into strenuous activities
β Listen to your body's signals
β Stay hydrated throughout the day
Don't Ignore Injuries
If you experience a strain, sprain, or injury and don't notice improvement within three to five days, have it evaluated. Just because you've had a similar injury before doesn't mean it should be ignored.
You only get one body and one life to live. Taking care of small issues today can help prevent larger problems tomorrow.
