Day 1 is in the books.
Currently sitting 6th in the Men’s 40+ Division and 36th overall out of 141 active competitors. Not exactly where I want to be, but close enough to make a move.
Tomorrow is all about the shooting.
Three mixed fitness and shooting stages, plus one shooting-only stage. The work is done. The fitness is there. Now it’s time to make hits, avoid penalties, and climb the leaderboard.
One shot at a time. One stage at a time.
Let’s go.

RITON UPDATE #4 | Tactical Games Regional – Rupert, Idaho
The Ruck Run is complete.
Approximately 1 mile under load, and I crossed the finish line in about 10:45.
That should put me somewhere around the middle of the pack in the Men’s 40+ Division. Not a stage win, but a solid performance that keeps me in the fight.
One of the biggest lessons in The Tactical Games is knowing when to push and when to pace yourself. The objective wasn’t to set a course record—it was to stay competitive, manage fatigue, and be ready for the stages that follow.
Steady work. No mistakes. On to the next one.

Riton 40+ Team
Competing against each other this weekend at the Idaho Regional, but representing the same team when it comes to optics.
The Tactical Games may put us on different score sheets, but we’re proud to be part of the Riton Optics family. Iron sharpens iron, and having strong teammates pushing each other only makes us better.
Good luck to everyone competing this weekend. Shoot straight, move fast, and leave it all on the field.

RITON UPDATE #2 | Tactical Games Regional – Rupert, Idaho
Stage 2 was simple on paper:
125-pound sandbag.
48-inch bar.
30 reps.
Stay under 5 minutes.
The reality? It was a gut check.
I finished in 2:44, well under the time cap and moved on to the next challenge.
The Tactical Games continues to prove that success comes from more than marksmanship. Strength, conditioning, pacing, and mental toughness all matter when the clock is running.
One stage down. More work ahead.
Thanks to Riton Optics for supporting competitors who demand performance under pressure.

RITON UPDATE – TACTICAL GAMES REGIONAL | RUPERT, IDAHO
Stage 2 complete.
The spinner was one of those obstacles that rewards patience, consistency, and solid fundamentals. I was able to successfully complete the spinner and keep moving through the course.
The Tactical Games continues to be a test of fitness, marksmanship, problem-solving, and mental discipline. Every stage presents a new challenge, and today was no different.
Huge thanks to Riton Optics for supporting competitors who demand performance when it matters most. Time to refuel, recover, and get ready for the next stage.

Goal #1: Watch and learn from the Grand Masters in my squad.
Goal #2: Don’t embarrass myself.
Everything after that is a bonus.
Time to soak up knowledge, push my limits, and have some fun.

Florida vacation doesn’t mean the training stops.
With the Tactical Games Regional only one week away, I’m keeping the engine running with beach burpees, sprints, and squats. No fancy gym. No excuses. Just sand, sweat, and consistency.
The work you put in when nobody is watching is what shows up on game day. Looking forward to testing myself against some of the best athletes and shooters in the country next weekend.
See you on the start line.
Exercise and Dry Fire for The Tactical Games
Barriers are an important part of The Tactical Games, but they’re only one piece of the puzzle. Efficient weapon handling can save valuable time and prevent costly penalties.
This drill combines movement, positional shooting, and target acquisition through multiple ports, while reinforcing one of the most overlooked skills in competition: clearing procedures.
Before every transition, stage completion, or movement sequence, make sure you can:
✅ Clear your rifle efficiently and confidently
✅ Clear your pistol without hesitation
✅ Maintain muzzle awareness throughout the process
✅ Verify the firearm’s condition before moving on
✅ Perform the procedure consistently under stress and fatigue
The fastest competitor isn’t always the one who shoots the quickest—it’s often the athlete who manages every task efficiently while remaining safe and deliberate.
Train the shooting. Train the movement. Train the fitness.
But don’t neglect the administrative gun handling skills that can make or break a stage.
How to Travel with Fi****ms Legally — Directly from TSA
Description:
Flying with a firearm? Don’t guess. Don’t rely on hearsay. Go directly to the TSA standard.
In this video, we break down the basics of lawful firearm travel according to TSA guidance, including how to declare your firearm, why it must be unloaded, how it must be secured in a locked hard-sided case, and why fi****ms are checked baggage only.
Failure to follow the standard can lead to fines, confiscation, delays, or even legal consequences. The goal is simple: be prepared, be responsible, and be legal.
Topics covered:
* TSA firearm travel requirements
* Checked baggage vs. carry-on restrictions
* Locked hard-sided case requirements
* Declaring fi****ms at the airline counter
* Ammunition considerations
* Why “close enough” is not good enough
