Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2026 U.S. Sugar Employee Tournament at Clewiston Golf Course on September 12. We appreciate all of the employees, teams, and supporters who helped make the tournament a great event.

Congratulations to all of our participants and tournament winners. We are proud to celebrate the camaraderie, competition, and sportsmanship displayed throughout the tournament.

A Tradition That Has Endured

Founded in 1929, the Clewiston Golf Course has been part of this community for nearly a century. Through generations of change and growth, the course has remained a place where residents and visitors can come together to enjoy the game and be part of a tradition that continues today.

Clewiston is widely known for its agricultural heritage and its connection to Lake Okeechobee, which has made the area a destination for fishing and outdoor recreation. The Clewiston Golf Course adds another distinctive chapter to that story.

For nearly 100 years, golf has been part of the culture and identity of our community. The course has welcomed local golfers, visitors, longtime residents, and new generations who continue to discover and enjoy the game.

We are proud to continue operating one of Clewiston’s historic community assets and to carry forward a golf tradition that has endured since 1929. Clewiston Golf Course Youth Golf League, a competitive program designed to help young golfers learn the game and develop their skills at an early age.

The league is open to youth in the 17U, 13U, and 9U divisions. The season runs from October through January at Clewiston Golf Course. Registration is $60 per golfer and includes instruction, range access, a shirt, and a hat.

Registration is open now, but space is limited. The registration deadline is September 23, 2026.

Building the original Clewiston Golf Course required more than a plan on paper. In 1928, the City commissioned Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek to design a regulation 18-hole course, and construction continued throughout the following year. Hundreds of trees were planted as the course began to take shape on what had previously been flat land.

Local engineer Captain F. Deane Duff oversaw the construction. A World War I veteran and prominent member of the Clewiston community, Duff worked with the Sugarland and Clewiston Drainage Districts and served as General Manager of the Clewiston Development Company.

The first nine holes officially opened for play on February 23, 1930. The original course measured 3,270 yards with a par of 37 and featured water hazards, rolling greens, and a tee box rising more than 20 feet above the surrounding land. Daily green fees were 50 cents, with a monthly family rate of $2.

Nearly a century later, the work that began in 1929 remains visible in the course played today. The original Stiles and Van Kleek routing is still in use, preserving a direct connection between the golfers of Clewiston’s earliest years and those who play the course today.

The Clewiston Golf Course continues a long tradition of bringing golfers together through tournaments that support local organizations, schools, civic groups, charities, and community causes.

The tournament schedule features events throughout the year, welcoming participants from Clewiston and communities across the Glades. Each tournament is part of the ongoing tradition of golf at Clewiston Golf Course and the role it continues to play in the community.

Please note that the Campbell & Frances Nall Clewiston Rotary Golf Tournament has been updated from November 7 to November 14, 2026. The tournament schedule has been updated to reflect the new date.
